Hi everyone. I have a couple questions if anyone could help I would really appreciate it. I have HIP insurance with the state of Indiana. Dr Mattar with Clarian is my surgeon. I have met my recommended weight loss and have an appointment with Dr Mattar next week for last appt and to submit me to insurance. Does anyone know how long it takes HIP to review/approve? Once I am approved..how far out is surgery scheduled? Between actual approval and surgery date whats next as far as appointments with Clarian? I appreciate your help.
Jeannie,
Hip has three different program options and I've heard that two of the three are paying for the surgery. Figures your sister has my luck and selected the ONE that isn't. I know the Hip MDWise with Americhoice is one that is paying though. Maybe she can switch to that plan?

Faye- I don't know about the HIP and approval, but I do know that it was approx 6 weeks from the time I was approved until my actual surgery date. Dr. Mattar is pretty popular so he is booked out. At your next appt, after Dr. Mattar reviews your chart, he will decide what preop tests he wants ordered and then you will get a call from Clarian North regarding that appointment. After about a week after those tests are done and Dr. Mattar has been able to review those results, Nancy his secretary will call you with both your surgery date and your all day preop class. At the preop class you will be in class from approx 830am til 1pm and then all of Dr. Mattar's pt's have another appt with him to go over any last minute questions, etc. That class is scheduled approx 2 weeks before your surgery. Hope this helps! I am just now 13 days out from my surgery with Dr. Mattar.
