Pam,
Don't freak....although I know that you're going to anyway. The same thing happened to me. When Dr. Mick went over my test results he spotted an abnormal Q wave on my EKG/ECG. An abnormal Q wave may indicate a past heart attack. He said that he wanted me to see a Cardiologist and have a Stress Echo before he would approve surgery for me. I never had chest pains until that moment!!!! This all happened on April 13th and I was scheduled for surgery on April 22nd. Mentally I was prepared for the 22nd. People at my work rearranged their work schedules for me and now there was a possibility that I may not have surgery that day?
I happened to have two EKG/ECG's from last year that had the same artifact on them. I faxed them to Dr. Mick and he said that based on those I would be fine for surgery. In the meantime I scheduled an appointment with a Cardiologist to expedite things. The Cardio. wanted to get the stress echo. anyway. I had the test, it was fine, I was fine, I had my surgery on my scheduled day and am doing well.
Don't be scared or worried. You're in good hands. They know what they're doing and they only want the best for you. Just take things one step at a time and you'll be fine. I wish you all the best!
