I'm back again

I have been looking at having WLS for 15 years and finally have insurance that will cover at least 90% of it.  Several years ago I was really disappointed when my insurance refused to pay for it.  This month I started my 6 months of phys/nut visits.  I am still concerned that my hopes will be crushed once again, but I am going to stay positive.  I am tired of not being able to sleep more than an hour or so due to back pain and taking a hand full of drugs everyday.  I hope to find a mentor or two or three to help me as I take this journey.

Sherry, I think you'll end up with more mentors than you can handle! Welcome to the boards. Use this 6 months to get yourself in the habit of those "post op" habits such as drinking tons of water, cut off caffeine, cut back on the high sugar things, take vitamins, etc. It will get your body in the best shape you can be for surgery.

Good luck!

I do need to start working on those vitamins...I have never been good at taking them.  As far as mentors go, I need all I can get.  I would rather learn from others mistakes than have to make my own.  I have been trying to lose weight.  I keep losing the same 10lbs.  Exercise would really help.  Once I get my classes over next week I want to get an exercise schedule.  Right now I am either sitting in a class or sitting doing homework.  I will be so glad for the break.

Hi Sherry,

Welcome our little home away from home.

You have come to the right place... the ppl here are WONDERFUL and a great source of support and information.

I completely understand what you're saying about getting your hopes crushed.... I have been trying to have this surgery for 6 1/2 years and FINALLY have insurance approval and my date of 05/04/09 (only a week away)...then i went for my preop tests last week and I have an infection in my tummy..... so i am keeping my fingers crossed that i get better by next monday....

I know when I first starting my 6 months....I thought it would take forever... but it went soooooooo fast, I couldnt believe it....

Just keep praying, have faith and have positive thoughts and it will all work out..

Glad you're with us now!!!

WE are here for you!  We are always excited to welcome a new friend to the group.  We are like family here as you will quickly learn.  Your next six months will go faster than you think.  I have been down that road before myself.   Melissa gave you some great advice already.  Start preparing yourself, mentally and physically for the journey ahead.  Its a great one!

Huge hugs, and welcome,
Tracy
