curious to know...
Hey everyone,
I am 2 weeks and one day post op. I am still on the full liquids and will move to the puree phase soon. I am so curious to know some things from all of u who are a few months or more post op... What do you eat in a typical day? Are you able to eat normal, real food? I'm so sick of eating beans, cheese, cottage cheese, etc that I just dont even want to eat anymore. So, I am eagerly awaiting the day that I can eat something different and yummy. Also, what suggestions do you have for the puree phase?
Thanks,
Autumn

I really liked the baby food green beans with a pinch of salt in them and mashed potatoes with a little shredded cheese when I was early out. I also liked oatmeal and would add a bit of applesauce and a smidgon of cinnamon. You have to get creative. I know it gets to be boring and drab.... I remember that part well.
As for now, I eat a pretty normal diet now. I eat wayyy less than I used to and I eat much healthier choices. But really, if there is anything I want.... I can figure a way to make it healthy and enjoy it. There are some great resources for recipes and such. There is a message board on OH for recipes and they are amazing! If you really want a certain dish... just ask and they will post you a suggested recipe.
Hang in there and congrats!

I can now eat nearly anything I want. Just not much of it! It's normal, real food!
When I was on pureed, I really like baby food peaches, and baby food butternut squash. The baby food veggies are very bland - don't be afraid to add spices.
Hang in there - won't be long, and you'll be moving right on to real food! I was so excited when I could have lettuce - something that crunches!

Man, do I remember feeling the way you do! I have to say that according to our diet plan at St. V's (which has changed some) we were not allowed mashed potatoes. I don't really care for them so I didn't miss them. Now that I am 8 months out I can eat anything. I DON"T but I could. I was bad and didn't puree. I just ate soft foods and chewed it to death.
However, I did ask my doc if I could eat Eggs a little early. She gave me permission and I have never tasted better scrambled eggs then that little 1 oz cup I had that day!
