Off to St. Vincent for my pre op testing today

good morning everyone!!!
im off to st. vincent this AM for my preop testing and am a nervous wreck!!!!
everything has gone so smoothly up until this point... i keep thinking OMG!  they're gonna say i can't have the surgery b/c of something on my preop testing...
i still have the hives...hopefully they will go away after i have thes stupid tests done today....
sorry i know they're not stupid...they do them to make sure we are OK for surgery... i just freak out over tests...
well im gonna be late if i don't get in the shower right now...

It is a journey and some times you hit a few bumps ,but you will be fine.
The only test that got me was the breathing test where you had to get in a little booth i was afraid i would get stuck in there.
But it will all be done soon and  you can Relax

Pam, you will do fine. Even if something shows up on the testing, there's usually time to get clearance before surgery. One more step in the road towards a new healthier you! Have a great day and let us know how things go when you are home!

im back and everything went pretty good 'cept the blood draw...
i swear i have no blood in me...
she got 3 viles each 1/2 full and then it just STOPPED....she was trying to "milk" it and moving the needle around "chasing" the vein that kept rolling on her....went to the other arm...veins too small to get anything she says..she starts looking at my wrists...im FREAKED!!!! i said OH NO...you can NOT do a blood draw on my wrist (had it done before and it was horrible)...so she called a guy in to give it a shot...he looked at both arms and just started to do it in my wrist... I LOST IT!!! i swear that man was tryin to dig his own grave in my wrist...excuse me...but it hurt like hell!!! he kept diggin and kept diggin in my vein w. that needle and i finally had to force him to stop...so he goes to my right arm (the one she said the veins were too small in and "pop"...got it the first time and filled 6 more viles....

i dont have a needle phobia...i just dont want someone diggin in my veins when there could be other alternatives first...
other than that....
everything else went really good...
now i wait....

Oh Pam,  it hurt me all over again just reading your story. They did that to me too once, years ago. They tried putting an iv in my wrist on the side just down from my thumb one time and I thought I would scream out loud. I am normally a very well behaved patient but, no one will ever go after my wrist for blood again, unless I'm unconcious. OMG it hurt so bad. You poor thing!!  I'm glad you have this behind you and are on your way. When is your procedure again? I'd like to come see you if I can make it.
