hospital stay
Wendy,
I had my surgery on a Friday and was released on Saturday. For my revision, it was a two-day stay though.
For my hernia...also with Dr. Gupta...she had put down 3 day stay and I was in about a week. It really just all depends on how the pain level is, etc.

Are you having your procedure performed laparoscopically? I had an open RNY and I was in the hospital Tue. - Sat. I can understand staying longer for an Open RNY. One day seems so fast.
There were two other ladies that had surgery the same day I had surgery and their procedures were not open and they went home a day or two before me.
I know insurance companies try to get you out of the hospital as quickly as possible. I am sure all will go well with you. I will be thinking of you. I may be at he hospital on the 15th, If so I will stop in and say hello.

This is the way it worked for me... My insurance approved me for one day in the hospital then each day after that my nurse called them and told them I was staying another day. I stayed five days due to a complication from the pain meds. Therefore I would tend to say that because you are approved for one day does not mean you will go home in one day.

Hi Wendy,
I also thought I would be staying just one night, but ended up for two. Dr. Gupta said I could have gone home, but they wanted me more steady on my feet. Personally, I was glad I stayed a little extra time. St. V's is great....I"m sure they'll help you get what you need. Good luck in your journey!
