Well today I thought I was just going to breeze through my thyroid doctor appointment...new prescription and tell him I will be having surgery on April 20....well....of course that would be TOO easy....he wanted me to have an ultrasound since my blood work was fine...so we did it to find that my goiter is getting larger rather then reducing in size....so he wants to do a needle biopsy on Wednesday the 15th....this just cant be a surgery stopper if it comes back saying I need it taken out....please dont let this happen...

Thanks for letting me vent....I am trying to act like its not a big deal to my family but I am scared to death.

I have never had a thyroid problem so its all foreign to me.  However, I did want to say I hope things go well for you.

Melissa, You are in my prayers and thoughts.  Keep faith and know that you will be fine.  God can do anything!

I know you must be worried, scared and upset but try not to let it ruin your positive attitude about going thru this surgery.  Your attitude and positive thinking will lead to good things.

Huge hugs,
Tracy

Melissa, I'm sure things will be fine.

I've never had a goiter, but I did have problems several years ago with large cysts on my thyroid.  I had to have a needle biopsy also.  They drained the cysts, but it appeared that my body wasn't receiving the benefit of the thyroid hormones - it just enlarged the cysts.  What I had to do for about 2 years was take Synthroid to make my thyroid stop producing hormones - no natural production kept the cysts from enlarging.  Now, what it did to my metabolism was another story!!!

Anyway, just wanted to say that I am sure things will go just fine.  Keep us posted honey!

I am sorry you are having a bump in the road, but am very glad your Dr. is taken the right precautions. Thyroid affects our body drastically. I hope all goes well. Remember one day at a time. Wendy
