Bleeding Ulcers

As many of you know my brother was admitted into the hospital last Sunday for throwing up blood.  They found out that he had a bleding ulcer and he was given blood because he had lost so much.  His RNY surgoen beleived that it was because he had taken some Ibuprofen for his back pains.

I spoke with Dr Huse yesterday about if it is safe or not, this is what he told me.  If it is taken in moderation then it would be ok.

In talking with Michelle from St Vincent's she asked me if my brother drink any alcohol, and when I told her yes, then she said that was probably the biggest contributing factor to his bleeding ulcer, because in our small pouch alcohol tears the lining and with the conbination of ibuprofen and alcohol it created the suffer bleeding ulcer.

I am glad that I do not drink much and do not take ibuprofen (except what is in the aspirin I take daily, which I was told doesn't have enough to worry about).

I am hoping that this will help some else, not to make the mistakes that Bruce has made.

Hugs
