So, I have read all the posts about people who swallow their gum.  I remember thinking...who swallows their gum after the age of 9???  UH HUH.  Lately, I have been chewing SFgum to keep myself from snacking.  I had 3 sticks in my mouth b/c I like to blow bubbles. I am sucking back in a bubble and suck the dang gum down my throat.  URGH.  I tried to cough it back up but NO GO.  So, it was either finish swallowing it or choke.

Now my tummy feels icky.  I went ahead and ate a little something to maybe "trick" my pouch into not noticing.  I know, I'm nuts.  Can you believe I am a grown adult afraid b/c I have swallowed gum.?  I KNOW that people call the docs and they tell you not to worry.....but it kinda freaks you out anyway.  In the event that I am the gum exception...and you hear of my demise....please let my husband know that is what happened.  He is not here right now.  I could tell my Grandmother but I would have to yell it at her 3 or 4 times for her to hear me then she would forget 2 minutes later.  :)

That's what I get!

Just be glad it wasn't a watermelon seed. You could never fit a growing melon in your pouch haha.

I used to love to buy Chicle tabs gum, and chew and eat them. I never spit that out. That was HARD to give up!!!

Hope it all came out in the end....  I have chewed a little but it freaks me even after 4 years thinking I MIGHT have to have an emergancy endo to get it out...I always swallowed my gum in the past.. so most of the time I just dont chew it more than a few minutes then spit for fresh breath.. Luck to ya

I have been wanting to chew gum, but have been too afraid of swallowing it to try.  How silly is that a grown woman afraid of chewing gum.

Okay - so I was following up on my freinds and saw your post.    So - tell us the rest of the story - did the gum pass or do we need to let your husband know what happened?

Not to be indelicate - but I suddenly have this vision of the combination of 3 sticks of swallowed bubble gum,  and the gas that most of us have post op - and  now I'm concerned about popping bubbles getting stuck.

Blessings Candy - it looks like you are doing great on your journey!
