bruises
I have a question that I emailed the nutricianists at St. V's about and am waiting to hear what they say but, I was wondering if anyone knows if getting bruised easily is a sign of any vitamin or iron deficiancy? I don't usually bruise easily but, it seems like I have them everywhere now and I don't know why. My little grandson is the cause of a lot of them with his tiny elbows and toes and when he crawls all over me, I find that I have bruises after. Or, if I simply bump into something it will leave a great big bruise. I just wanted some opinions.
Thanks
Thanks

I by no means am a Dr or qualified but I have had the same problem and have had a Dr who was looking after me for one of my MANY DIETS tell me it was due to lack of vitamins.. I will tell you to make sure you are doing everything your NUT and Dr tells you because they have this down to a science. THey know what we should be eatting and the vitamins we should be taking.. I trust them.. but yea.. in my opinion... you need to make sure you are taking and doing everthing nutritional we were told to do.. And tell the crawly babes to be more careful...
.. I have 3 who love the dickins out of me and yep cause a few brusies... oh but SOOOO worth it!!

I googled it and found out that I may be low on iron and/or vitamin C. Still waiting to hear back from the NUT at St. V's. I have my 9mo visit on May 1st so, I will talk with the nurse practitioner then. I wonder if I should take prenatal with iron. I've heard some people take those. Maybe supplement with a C also. You know, the odd thing is that I told my husband I have been craving vitamin C like crazy the past month. I have been eating an orange a day or more some days. I also have a call in to my family physician so I can have some blood work done to check my iron level.
ladies, i was gonna tell you that my daughter had always had this problem and the doc told her it was due to annema. She has iron issue. So I am willing to bet you might be low on iron. Also be sure to ask your doc for your actual blood levels on your vitamins. Sometimes when they tell you they are in the normal range, it is true that they are but still on the low side of normal. And you don't want them to be on a down slope and not realize it. You could drop too low and not be aware that you even were close.
I will be interested in seeing what St. V's has to say. I dont have this issue but I would like to learn what they say may cause it.
Thanks,
Huge hugs,
Tracy

Thanks Tracy. I talked to my pharmacists and he agreed that it sounded like low iron. Everything I googled about RNY and bruises said, low iron or low C. So, I thought I would start on an iron sup and see if it helps. I will post here when I find out for sure what my actual blood levels are. I just don't know what normal is?
Yeah, I had to have my blood taken at 4 months out since I was just entirely exausted always. All of my blood work came back ok but they said I did need to up my protien. It still took me until 8 months out to get back my energy. I now feel like I zoom around a lot because I have so much energy. I talked to the pharmacist where I shop and bought some iron over the counter and then bought the Centrum Silver instead of just the regular multi. Still I'm going to have my family doc check my blood levels. One of his nurse's is a RNY patient so they know what to check for.
Thanks Linda
