Update on sister

My sister Karen is back from Mayo. They have to wait on a couple of test results (that she is having here) to go to the board to have her put on the transplant list. These are tests that should have been done there but they did not get scheduled. It will probably now be May before we know the results. We have known all along that this is a long process and it is definately an emotional rollercoaster. Please keep her in your prayers. Also a coworker of mine has a 9 year old daughter that is under hospice care. They don't expect her to make it through the weekend. There is so much sadness right now. Jana

Jana I am so sorry your sis and co worker are having to face these trials.  My prayers are with them at this most difficult time.

Hi Jana,
I am so sorry to hear that your sister and your family are going through this.  What kind of transplant is she looking at?  My husband's cousin (she is in her 40's) had a liver transplant in 1988.  She just had everything but her heart and lungs transplanted in 2008.  She is doing reamarkably well so far.  It was a long process.  Please hang in there and know that if you ever need to talk I am here for you.

She needs a set of lungs. Fortunately she is healthy other than that. She has already been in the process at Mayo a little over a year. She only weighe 88 pounds when she first went so she HAD to gain weight. I wanted to donate some of mine! She has had breathing problems most of her life. The doctors always said that she had asthma. Hopefully she can fight this until she can get a transplant. Jana

I am so sorry to hear this.  I hope she gets what she needs.  Its a sad and happy situation.  You are glad they are getting the transplant but sad for the other family and grateful to them.  Good luck and keep us posted.

God Bless sisters everywhere!! I know from experience how tough it is to see a sister in pain and to go downhill day by day and there is nothing you can do to stop it.. My sisters lung cancer so far has slowed down its growth and they are in the process of pin point radiation to finish shrinking the brain tumor..We are hopeing the "less than a year" time frame they gave her in the beginning will stretch to a few more where she actually gets to do the things she wants to do first. It's like the good china email that goes around...I tell her to start doing what she wants to do .. now while she still can..

my heart goes out to all
you know there are times when we seem to think things in our lives are just going horrible when reality...
we have it all and are the lucky ones...
my heart and prayers go out...
it breaks my heart to hear of such a young person losing their battle w an illness..
ill be thinking about everyone and saying a prayer and calling on the angels to help carry her home
