Which Vitamins to not mix?
Jamie,
My endocrinologist told me to wait at least 4 hours to take my muti-vitamins after taking my synthroid (I have thyroid issues) and wait at least 4 hours after taking them to take the calcium. I know some people doesn't wait between any of them, but I was told that they would counter each other if you don't. The antibiotic that I'm on right now...4 times a day...says not to take it within 3 hours of multi-vitamins or calcium. Yeah...try to fit it all in...!

Jamie, at my St. V class they told us to wait an hour between each vitamin (3 a day) and then wait at least 3 hours between the vitamin and the calciums.
You have been coming up with some excellent questions. I would suggest that you write them down for your pre-op class and take them with you so that you can confirm that the information you have gotten here is correct. Things change from one class group to the next sometimes as new information is available. It's always a good idea to get confirmation from your NUT.
Thanks!
Hope this helps,
Tracy

I was instructed to wait two hours between vitamins and calcium. Also told to not take vitamins with any calcium products like milk or cheese. I was told to wait two hours after taking vitamins before eating or drinking anything with calcium. I was also told to wait two hours after taking iron supplements before eating or drinking anything with calcium. I was also told to take 1000mg of Vitamin C with my iron to aid in absorption. Hope that helps and isn't too confusing.

Pam, the key to all of this is routine... you have to get a routine down and figured out so you can do it on a daily basis without thinking too hard about it. I got a pill organizer that has morning and afternoon on it. I put all my vitamins and such in it on Sunday and pack it for the week. I take my weekly vitamins on Sundays. The others, I take vitamins in the morning while I drink water and then my calcium in the afternoon and evenings. It isn't as bad as it sounds but it is a bit overwhelming at first. I just learned to take my vitamins in place of all the meds I no longer have to take.
YOU CAN DO IT!
