Hello All,

Just wanted to thank everyone for all of your thoughts and prayers for my surgery and for Kathy - who stopped in to visit.  Thanks Melissa for covering for Sabrena and getting update out there.  I know Sabrena was super busy.

I did have a lot of back pain.  I have a herniated disc and cannot lie flat on my back.  Dr. Huse and the anesthesiologist let me arrange pillows under me, I was in the process of arranging them when I went out, that is all I remember.  So I am not sure if it was t here or the recovery room that created my back problem.  I back pain was worse that my surgery pain.  The next day I was a lot better, so it was not like a previous surgery where the back pain was so bad, I had to get an epidural.

Kathy is such an inspiration and so pleasant to chat with,  I wish I could have stayed awake better, I was fighting drifting off.  The pain meds had me in a fog the entire time I was there.  I didn't feel any pain but I was just sitting around with my eyes closed in la la land.

I walked the halls with Alta and Kathy but as soon as i hit the bed I was back in la la land.  I think I got way to much pain meds, but it was probably because of my back.

I feel so tired and wrung out, I am sleeping alot

I am so thankful to have the surgery, but more thankful for my OH family.  Everyone has been awesome.

I have made up my mind - tomorrow will be even better -still overwhelming but better.

Lisa

Hello Lisa,

I am glad you are finally home.     Everyday you will feel better and better because nothing feels better than being OUT of the hospital and home in your own bed/reclining chair.

As for me, I have been so sick for about 4 days.     The next sick person at work that walks my way is going to be told to "STOP" and "TAKE A FEW STEPS BACK" - -  I just cannot risk getting sick again right before my surgery.

I will talk to you soon.

I have never had back problems but being on my back after surgery was the hardest part of my recovery.  I had a slow recovery and didn't really feel back to myself for about a month so just hang in there because each day it does get a little better.  My neighbor had RNY surgery and was out shopping with me the following week so its different for all of us.

You're right Lisa, everyday is a little better. Almost 4 months out, I'm still overwhelmed, but I know that will get better too! ;o)

I'm sorry about all your back pain, but glad that you are home and resting. Those pain meds made me super crazy sleepy too, so I can relate.

Hang in there and make sure you're drinking in between your
