I am not a traditional dumper, but I will tell you my sypmtoms and causes.

I become extremely gassy and nauseated if I try even the smallest bite of anything fried.  I might do a full blown "dumping" if I ate more but I have never tried more than a tiny bite.

I can eat sugar in small amounts, one cookie, a small peice of banana nut bread something that would be not more than about three bites.  If I eat more than that I get a headache nauseated and tired.  I tried a small bowl of cheerios once and thought I was gonna have a heart attach my heart was racing so bad.

Artificial sweetners make me feel yukky, early out they made me throw up but that has improved.  They also cause headaches and nausea racing heart and tired.  I can do small doses like a pack of spenda in my coffee is fine.  I have been trying Truvia and it seems to be ok also in my coffee but I haven't ventured out any more than just a pack in my coffee.

Darn it, it is NOT sugar... well small amounts anyway.. I do get the speeding heart if I have a little to much but the rush to the bathroom for me is associated to fat, grease and just to much oils...I dont process them at all..

There are no real specifics.  Every person is different.  It could be fried foods or anything buttery or fatty like some meats.  It can be sugar or sugar substitutes.  It can also be milk and/or milk based products or all dairy.  Every person is different.

The symptons for every person vary by person too.  If I get too much sugar I get horrific abdominal pains that make me want to die.  Sometimes that's all I get and I don't actually "dump".  Sometimes too much high fat foods will cause abdominal pains and bloating but no dumping.  The dumping might not come for hours or even the next day.

Your friend needs to write down everything she eats and take note as to when she dumps.  This should help her narrow her specifics down so she can avoid those foods.  What does and dosen't make a person dump will change over the years too.  I couldn't drink milk for about a year and a half after my surgery but I have no problem with it now.  Good thing because Starbucks doesn't carry Lactaid and I can't stomach soy.

Good luck!

I don't know yet, haven't dumped, and I'm glad of it. I haven't pushed the limits and tried anything that I knew I shouldn't yet.

I really havent experienced "dumping syndrome".  I have noticed that if I eat a little too much sugar or even sugar alcohols usually the next day my stomach is very gassy and hurts. Hurts to the point I have to lay down and then finally I will get the diarrhea and its all over.  Its not real fun what I go thru, I cant imagine the full effect of dumping syndrome.
