With the food guidelines I had with Dr. Jones, I was allowed to have whole wheat pasta anytime after 7 months. I don't eat much pasta at all because it just fills me up too much. And, you are talking to an Italian girl. I made the best homemade fettucini alfredo around but, not anymore. The lower fat versions just aren't the same. Someday I may practice a bit on my own but for now at 8 months out, I just don't really eat any.

Jeanna, we're not allowed to have it yet.  We can't have it till 7 months out, and then it must be whole wheat pasta only.

There is a pasta called "Dreamfields" that is low in carbs and doesn't hurt the belly. I just tried it a few days ago and it made delicoius  mac n cheese! I couldn't even tell a difference. It floored me! I had the DS, so I know that makes a little difference. I had pasta a couple times starting at 3 months out, but didn't want all the carbs so hardly ever do it. But you should try the Dreamfields, it is wonderful!!

I bought it at Kroger in Greencastle. I looked in Wal Mart but couldn't find it there. Someone else told me that you can buy it at Meijer, but I've never tried to find it there!  Where are you from?

I'm over 4 yr post op and pasta just sits like a brick in my pouch. I used to love lasagna and I was one who could sit down and eat a whole box of mac & cheese by myself pre-op...but now? A few bites, and I begin to feel like it is all gummed up inside me. It does not matter what kind of pasta I've tried. now, if I get the urge for Alfredo (not a spaghetti fan), I fix it with the low-carb Alfredo sauce, grilled chicken, and spaghetti squa****'s a delicious substitute and much healthier for you.

Ok, Sherri made me hungry!  I have been wanting to experiment with chicken and some low fat pasta with alfredo sauce. Maybe dress it up and make it a bit richer with some low fat feta. I haven't really eaten much squash but, I can't wait to plant my zucchini this year. It is wonderful on the grill with olive oil spray and garlic in a foil package. Just until crispy. I pretty much agree with everyone else on the pasta, it just sits heavy. My advice is to chew, chew, chew and take long to eat it.

There is a product that I found in my Hungry Girl cook book by House Foods.  Shirataki Noodles.  They are sold in health food stores and I finally tried them this weekend.  They are tofu.  I know... Iknow...Tofu... but.  THEY WERE GOOD!  My husband even liked them.  I fixed them with with diced tomatos and hambuger.  It was great.  The whole package had 140 calories!!!  I had my little amount ofcourse.  So there are substitutes out there.  Please go to the Hungrygirl.com site and look them up for the exact amounts of protein etc. But it was VERY low in carbs....less than 10 and I think it was less than 5 actually.
I had been wanting to try them and couldn't find them locally.  I am so glad I found them.
Blessings to you all, Leah
