No surgery for me.......

I was called yesterday by the Bariatric clinic to inform me that suddenly Aetna is saying I don't have coverage, after they said on 1/7 that I did.  I got a copy of our policy and sure enough, it clearly states in the exclusions that no coverage is available for any surgery related to weighloss even with comorbidities.  They went on to say that they spoke to my husband on 1/5 and told him that I did not have Bariatric coverage.  This also angers me, because IF my husband was told that, we wouldn't have continued to shell out money for phych exams and Dr. visits and SWL classes.

I am feeling so many things!  I have lost 25 lbs, but it was for a goal.  I don't know if I can do it on my own.  It scares me to think that I have to keep going on my own.  I don't know if I have that kind of strengh.... especially when I never have had before.

I wanted to say thank you to ALL of you for your kindness, words of guidance and support.  I have gotton to know some of you thru your postings.  I have followed the progress of Lyn, and cried at the loss of Maggie.

I am not sure what the future holds for me now, but I will have to remember...
"Just keep swimming." <------Nemo reference

Thanks!

I am sorry you have hit this roadblock.  But remember this site isnt only for surgery patients.  We have several on here who have not had the surgery,  We are here to support you in any way we can.  So don't give up on us.  We wont give up on you.

You have already lost 25 lbs.  So, make up short term goals and work to achieve them.  With each little step comes huge success.  Have faith in yourself.  Don't look at the 90 lbs all at once and overwhelm yourself... look at 10 then maybe 10 more... YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

We are glad to have you here.

Huge hugs,
Tracy

Tracy,
Thank you!  I think the only way I can do this is exactly what you suggested.  The Dr. office gave me a goal to meet and I did it for them.  So why cant I do it for ME!  I will set a goal for myself to loose 10 pounds a month and make myself stick to it.  Luckily being on the Liver-reduction diet has shown me I can do it.  So, I'll just stay on it forever.  I am getting used to it, and not really missing much.

Thanks for the support.  You guys are truly amazing women!!!

Sound like you and I have a lot in common.  I need accountability.  I was able to loose 52 lbs before my surgery by going into the doctor once a month with my food list AND paying my copay.  If your loosing weight continue to go into the physician and weight in with your food sheets everymonth.  Aren't you worth that $25 copay?

If you need us we are here for you lord know's we've ALL been in your shoes at one time or another!!

Huggs,

Frankie

I love Dori >>> just keep swimming, swimming, swimming!!  We jus****ched that this weekend with our grandson. What simple and strong words. Look, that just stinks what they did to you. I had my surgery on my husbands Cigna insurance and then he lost his job and I had to use my insurance from work, Anthem. They will not cover my follow-up post-op appointments to Dr. Jones. Some insurances really suck!
Hang in there and something will break for you. You found us here so, that is strength all on its own.
Just keep coming and be inspired. We all do that. I will continue to hope for you that you will find a loop in your insurance. Keep buggin the SH*! out of them!!  Maybe they will weaken.
Be Well  : )

I* am so sorry for your road block on your journey to a happier healthier you but it is not a dead end it is only a detour. You are finding another road on your journey.. We will be there for you..

There is NO EASY WAY  surgery is a *****even though I have had very little complications it was and still is a daily decision, a daily choice just like the way you lost your first 25 pounds.

When life hands us lemons we make sugar free lemonaide!!

Linda,

As the dust is beginning to settle, I am realizing its not a dead end.  Maybe it was God's way of showing me I can do this, and how to do it.  But maybe surgery wasn't in His plan all along.  I just thought it was.

I am trying to look at the positives of NOT having surgery:  no hair loss, no dumping, no recovery time, no worry of complications, no scars....etc.

Thank you for the great laugh!  I needed that!

Don't give up on yourself. Keep your chin up and you can do this. I echo what others have said as far as keep on going. You are worth it. I also think the advice bout continuing to weigh in with your doctor and or a  nutritionist would be beneficial for you. :)

We are here for you.
