Ok, so it is going to be too cool for us to go camping next week while the girls are on Spring Break.  The next idea that the girls suggested was for us to come to Indy and spend some time there.
So, now my question is.........what FREE things are there to do up there?  I know the Zoo is not too expensive, but free is much better! I am really having to do this on a very limited funds, so whatever ideas and suggestions you have, please either post them, or feel free to e-mail me!
We aren't going to be able to afford a hotel, so we will just get to spend the day and then drive home afterward.  Unless it is supposed to be warmer up there, then we can bring our tent! LOL  Roll it all into one!
Anyway, any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Check out the Childrens Museum- on Thurs. afternoon they have free admittance & right now Lego World is going on. I think if you go to Indy.com you'll find lots of info on things to see/do.

The Children's Muesum is ONLY free on the FIRST Thursday of each month. You can get a discount adult price and a free child's pass if you have Hoosier Healthwise. The zoo has Family Tuesday as it's discount day. There's also the Garfield Park Conservatory and Hidden Gardens, kids are free and adults are $2. The Scottish Rite Cathedral & tours of the cathedral are provided free of charge daily Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM as well as on the third Saturday of each month. Also Turkey Run State Park (outside of Indy) has great camping, swimming, and awesome trails like you wouldn't believe. A truely beautiful place. The Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center can be found on the University of Indianapolis campus and is home to a two-tiered performance hall, an art gallery, practice rooms, a lecture hall, classrooms, and art studios and is totally free.

That's all I think of off the top of my head. If I come up with more I'll let you know.

Blessings
Jodi

I forgot to mention that the Children's Musuem Free First Thursday of each month is from 4pm to 8 pm.

Also free ..... and worth the travel is the newly reconstructed Columbia Park Zoo in Lafayette.

The Indiana Art Musuem has a discount family day but for the life of me I can't remember the details like which day and the time. Hopefully it's on their website.

Sometimes the IMAX has discount afternoon movies for the kids during Spring Breaks, Summer Breaks, and Christmas Break - so google them and see what's going on with that if your interested.

Oh just checked the Indiana Art Musuem and it's totally free... and it's neat as heck too. Gage loved it when I took him back about four years or so ago.

The canal is great this time of year with the flowering Magnolia trees. Great walk whi*****ludes the White River State Park, The River Promenade, and the White River Gardens right next to the zoo, the State Museum, the Eiteljorg Museum, Victory field, Imax, NCAA Hall of Champions - you can google all that to see what's free or discounted during the time you and the girls are coming up. All that stuff is right there in the canal area so you can park in the free parking area and it's all walking distance.

Holcomb Gardens by Butler University is free... and beautiful too.

The City Market.... fresh fruit, veggies, great little cafe's.. that's a pretty awesome place too.

I use free-attractions.com to find stuff to do when we go traveling, visit relatives, or decided to fill up the van and drive some place new and do stuff. Since Gage was born I've never really had "extra" money to do alot of things, so I'm always looking for free or rather cheap things to do to entertain him and educate him at the same time. Usually if I go to one place and talk to the other parents around me there, they'd give me good info on other free or cheap places so I learned to bring a small notebook and pen with me so I could jot down the info when I got it passed on to me. But that was long ago, seeing how I now have a new little one and still in the no "extra" cash policy and I'll have to start my habits back up again, haha.

Good Luck and I hope you and girls have fun.
Jodi
