Any Lap-Bands out there?
We have a few lapbanders on here. They are some awesome girls too! I don't know who their surgeons were but if you get looking for them, LeeAnn B. and Jo (jodi) are a couple of them who have lots of good advice to share. I know there are others too. Welcome to the IN Board and I wish you all the luck with your approval.

Welcome! I don't know your surgeon, with which hospital is he affiliated? Lap-band is an excellent choice for some folks (like me). I was never a big sweet eater, but definitely a binge and volume eater. The band definitely put a stop to that, and forced me to find healthier ways to deal with stress. I'm thrilled with my band and my surgeon. I guess my advice is to work carefully with your surgeon and nutritionist to make sure you have the right amount of restriction, eat protein first, and keep exercise a regular part of your routine.

My doctor is affiliated with St Vincents Bariatrics in Indianapolis. He also teaches at IUPUI. I haven't had much contact with him but the program as a whole has been an eye opener. I have dieted so many times and tried so many things and I now understand more about my body and how it works than I ever did. Its no wonder I ended up at this point. You answered the one question I was hung up on, binge & volume eating. How much exercise do you get and what are you doing? Thanx, Linda

I currently try to exercise with 60 minutes on the treadmill at a fast walk 4 - 5 days/week, and about 15 minutes of weights or bands afterwards for cool-down. I didn't start here ... a week after surgery it was only 20 minutes on the treadmill at a very slow pace. I just keep building up the intensity and time slowly.

Hi Foxfire! First of all welcome to the board! I am a lap-bander as Tracy stated and love my band. I have documented my journey in my profile so that I can see where I was and when! I had a couple bumps, but they were easily worked out and am not at my "sweet spot" and the band is really working with me! I would love to offer any advice and answer any questions...just ask! there is no such thing as too many either so feel free to ask away! Good luck in your journey!
