employer!
I am so disappointed in my employer. I work for the County! If I go over my accumulated sick time while I am off for surgery, I will have to start using vacation time and holidays. I haave asked just not to be paid, but was told that was against policy. I have six sick days. I am faily new at my job. With the two days used for pre op test and nutritional class, I will need to be back to work in six days. 4 days of sick time and my usual 2 days off. My heart ache is that my daughter and grandson live in Washington state. I need at least a week to visit in July over my grandson's B.D. I just needed to sound off! Also, not once have the two nurses I work with even said good luck. They are just concerned my surgery does not affect thei vacation. Sorry, I am not usually this bitter. I am just plain mad, but will get over it. also I will do everything I can not to go over my allowed sick days. Seeing my dght and grandson are big motivations. Thanks for listening or rather reading. Wendy

sweetie
im hoping it all works out for you.
Id be upset that i might not get to see my family also.
Some people dont understand about the surgery i know my sils didnt they thought i was opting for an easy way out and therefore could have cared less.
I wish you good luck for them and vent anytime you need to.

I haven't been there a year yet. With FMLA, I would still have to use vac and holidays. I do believe some people look at wls as a easy way out and strickly cosmetic like plastic surgery. I am doing it because I am type two diabetic. I watched a brother die recently from complications from diabetes. My other brother is diabetic and has difficulty walking due to diabetic neuropathy. To me as well as all of you, this is a life saving surgery. I do believe in Karma. The people at my work will need compasion in their lives also. I will turn the other cheek and offerr comfort. Wendy

Good Luck to you and I'm sorry that is the issue. If you are close enough to the year mark you can postpone things? I know, I wouldn't want to either and you've already had your pre-op work done. I say give it up to God and do what you have to do. They won't want to replace you as an employee and if your job is easy enough then you can return to work. I took off 7 work days and with the four weekend days that gave me plenty of time to feel better. Just take it slow but, if you can't do it then don't harm yourself or your health. Surely they would be able to be compassionate enough to help you! I know what you mean though because I work with medical proffessionals and they all were so fearful of me having this surgery and I heard all kinds of horror stories before. I think they were trying to stop me, ya know. But, I did have some time to take and had to use FMLA as well. It was so very worth it.

Wendy,
I know whatcha mean... my employer is HORRIBLE about things like that... I am dreading letting them know that I am having surgery... to be honest... I don't think I will tell them what for, if I can get away with it...
my supervisor has NO compassion for anything!!!
when my son was in a near fatal accident last May... she made my life a living hell!!!
I had to leave my son in the hosp in Ft Wayne alone so I wouldn't lose my job!!!
So, I can totally relate...
I will be thinking about cha and prayin for ya

Would it be possible to work from home or maybe work 1/2 days to stretch your time off? I was off one week and worked from home on the computer (had my office phone forwarded to my cell) and no one other than my boss and my secretary knew I wasn't in the office.
I hope you get something worked out. I know your pain. I used up all my vacation days for my RNY in 2006 and in 2007 I used my vacation for plastic surgery. It sucks.

I can eat as much as I want...I just don't want much.
I'm ashamed of what I did for a Klondike bar...
I went back to work full time on day 9. I felt great...No complications. I was suppose to work 1/2 days for the first few days back but felt fine and worked 40+ hours that week.
