I have a question in regards to ulcer history, pancreatitus and pylori bacteria history prior to WLS.  Has anyone had a history prior to WLS of either of these?  If so, did it affect your WLS?  I am worried soooooo much and freakin' out!!!!

I have a history of both and was on meds for it a couple of years ago (protonix) and I still take pepcid and it seems to have healed, but lately, I feel like it might be back and I am a little troubled as to how this could/would affect WLS???

A couple of years ago, I had to hospitalized with serious pain that the dr. couldn't figure out what it was.... I had taken byetta for 6 months of the same year and about 3 months after I stopped, I had this attack that the dr. couldn't quite identify....he came to the conclusion that I had pancreatitius...was treating for pancreaitits..but it NEVER got better, two mos. later i saw a specialist who determined that I had an ulcer and pylori bacteria in my stomach... I was treated for this condition and it got better...
now i am freakin out again since the pain seems to have come back...not quite as intense as it was when i ended up in the hosp... but still had enough today to have me in tears and leaving working after only being there 45 mins...

i know either problem, ulcer, pylori bacteria or pancretitus can be HUGE issues w. WLS....anyone had EVER experience???  I sure could use some advice.  I sure don't want to lose the chance at my WLS over this, but I am scared!!!

Thanks

Try not to worry.

Pam,

I don't think it'd prevent you from having WLS..but I do think it would be something the surgeon & nut may have to tailor your diet plan around. Just be sure to tell them everything pre-op as you have us.

I hope you get to feeling better!

Thanks Sherri.

I am under ALOT of stress @ work and I think between that and worrying about the insurance approval, I have worked myself into a frenzy.  I am going to "take this weekend off" and enjoy some fellowship w. family and friends and try to put everything out of the back of my mind for a while.

I will be sure to tell them about my issues with the pain so they can be informed and together we can get this thing on the right track.

Thanks again
pam
