If that is it, I'll have to take them the rest of my life. I don't know how big the tablets are yet...we're getting the script filled tomorrow. But...if I can't eat as much, that won't break my heart. When they checked my height, I lost an inch so now my BMI is higher!

I take 20 mg of Creon (1 tablet) before every meal. It is just a capsule with small little balls in it! For 1 week I took 2 before every meal. Then I refilled my prescription and had to pay $327 for 1 month supply! If I wouldn't have had insurance, it would have been $575! Ouch! So I reduced it to 1 before each meal and it seems to work. I also find that if I eat anything with too much fat (such as fried food) or if I overeat (stuff myself) 1 is not enough and I have a spasm.
I first got the Creon at my 1 year appointment when I told Dr. Inman what was happening. She said she new exactly what it was and that I needed an enzyme. But she never really told me how to take them. So I went on having the problem for 2 years before it got to the point I was having the spasms 3-4-sometimes 5 times a day! Excrutiating pain! Horrible! Finally called back and Karen (the nurse) said they didn't realize I was taking Creon and told me to start taking 2 at every meal.
Wow, the difference! I am such a believer in it. I just knew I had twisted bowel but the cat scan did not show it. If you remember from a previous post, when I had the cat scan on that Saturday, I had the problem on the way home. I figured it out....because of the barium drink I had to take made me feel overly full!
So I am watching the amount and type of food I eat (strictly!) and taking 1 enzyme before each meal and snack and I am so much better!
Sherri, I'm glad you could have your answer. I'm sure you are too and you are ready for relief. It has gone on way too long for you! Hopefully once you get past the immediate problem, your pill usage will be reduced. Keep us informed!
Blessings,
Lois K :)
