Well...saw Dr. Mangan. He ordered bloodwork (5 tries to get blood). He ordered a stool sample (that didn't take long!!). I had an endo (which..I was awake & aware of the whole time!!GRRRR! But, it did only take one stick! Thank you Lisa for the prayers!). Tomorrow I have a motility test. It's a piece of cake compared to the one I had in Indy. I just have to eat breakfast...that's laced with radioactive material. Then I get alot of x-rays for the next 7 hours. Oh...I also have to start a 24 hour urine collection at 6 in the morning...which means I have to tote my pee bottle around with me that whole time!

Dr. Mangan is thinking that when my bowels became ischemic that it stopped the pancreas from delivering enzymes to the intestines at the right timing with my food. He's ordered all these other tests to rule out anything else. After I complete all the tests, I'm to start taking these enzymes with my meals...8 pills per meal!

Unless we hear otherwise, we will be free to come back to Indy after we drop my pee off Friday morning. I'm to call Dr. Mangan on Tuesday to let him know if there's a difference in things. That would be acting pretty quick, huh? If not, then he said we're back to square one and I'd have to come back. If it does work, then he's going to highly recommend that Dr. Gupta gets my abdominal wall closed up ASAP.  I did get the feeling that the pancreatic enzymes was more or less something easy to try. He was surprised they didn't try it in Indy. So...I can't say I have my hopes too built up right now.

That's it for now. Love you all...and thank you for your prayers.

Sherri
ps...Lisa..thank you for updating for me

I used a magnifying glass to read it.  My prayers are with you Sherry.  You have to keep that urine you are collecting in your refrigerator, right?  At least, that's what I had to do as I collected each sample..I had this huge container in my fridge.  That will deter anyone from getting the munchies when you open the fridge and see that

Hope this put a smile on your face today.

Love and hugs,
Kathy

Shanna, it looks normal to me.  Maybe its the lack of food doing it to you.   LOL  j/k!

Sherri was just whispering!  That's why its so small.  LOL

Enough silly - corny jokes.

She said they think its the timing of her enzymes from her pancreas to her intestines.  It can be treated with pills.  She will have to take 8 with each meal.  They are doing some other tests to rule out any other issues.

Huge hugs,
Tracy

Interesting to see about the enzymes.  That is what my major problem is also.  With all the spasms and all.  Since I have been taking Creon before every meal, my spasms have all but stopped.  I feel better.   I still bloat but not anything like I used to.  Very interesting that enzymes can be such a problem.  I look forward to following her Mayo story!

Blessings,

Lois

Lois,

Did they determine yours by any medical test or was it a 'here, try this and see if it helps' kind of thing? I definately got the feeling that mine was a 'well..we don't know what it is, so try this'. That is frustrating. The script he wrote, I am to take 2 at the beginning & end of each meal and 4 durring it...for a total of 8 pills per meal, 24 per day..720 per month.

I'm glad you got relief with yours...and I'm glad they were able to help your distension so it didn't lead to ischemia.
