Support Groups

As many of you know I live near New Palestine.  I would love to attend support groups but there are none close to me.  I am not looking for one in my backyard, just not 20 miles away.

Are there any support groups in central Indianapolis?  I work downtown.  All of the St. Vincent sanctioned ones are a bit far for me.

I also work from 11:30 a.m - 8:00 p.m every 4th month.  Every month my schedule changes.  It is difficult finding another manager to work this shift as we all hate it.  Why aren't there any support groups near me?

Maybe there are and I just need some help locating them.  I know they are extremely important and I know it will make my weight loss journey successful.    I guess if I have to drive to Carmel one day a week it would not kill me.

Does anyone know of any additional meetings?  What about Saturdays?

Lisa, the only ones I know of are listed on the St. V sheet.  This is a link to the current ones:

There's one that's going to be starting in Greenfield this spring, and one in New Castle - I don't know how far that would be for you.

The one in South Indy isn't all that far from downtown and might work for you also.

Maybe you could see about getting one started in New Pal - let St. V's know about it, and if there's enough interest, maybe they could get one going.

Clarion has one at 71st and I465W the first and third Wednesday every month from 6-7:30 pm.  They also have one on Friday morning but I'm not sure which Fridays.  They welcome ALL WLS patients and treat everyone like family.  We found them a couple years ago after moving here from Ohio (that's where we had our surgery).  We live on the east side but it is worth the trip twice a month to get the support we need from the other WLS patients and RuthAnne.
After my "little" medical emergency in January, I was having a really hard time recovering so I called RuthAnne and she got my PCP to run the needed blood tests to find the problem.  She then had Dr. Mattar write me a prescription for pre-natal vitamins so I could recover.  Within 3 days I could literally feel myself healing.  To me it felt like a miracle.
The next meeting is this Wednesday.  Hope you can make it.
