Difference of Opinion
"It is you thinking that it makes a good role model for those newer out that I question." How many times do I have to point out that I specifically said NOT to drink caffeine and/or carbonation until the pouch is completely healed?
I haven't had a baked potato in three weeks. I have one slice of pizza per week, rarely two slices, always thin crust. If I do eat Pringles, they are fat free and I eat about 4-5 of them. That is certainly not an everyday occurrence. Sometimes I eat two chocolate kisses. About once or twice a month I have a mini-sub from Subway without all the bread. So now ham and cheese is a no-no too? You make it sound as if what you listed are my daily staples, and it simply isn't true.
Either you or Ruthann is mistaken, because I TOLD her there were two shots of espresso in a serving of Click. She didn't forbid it. Whether you believe that or not is up to you.
Your statement that I don't like to think that others further out might have something to say that I can benefit from is an insult and uncalled for. I think your problem is that I disagree with you. Apparently you're not used to that, because you don't handle it well.
If so many are complaining about me here behind my back, perhaps I'm not as welcome as I thought I was.

Jenny,
You are such a rebel! Missed the post you are talking about...darn it!
Seriously though, I gave up caffeine for a couple of weeks after surgery maybe a little longer...but as I was able to drink more liquids I drank a LOT of ice tea. Some was decaf some wasn't. I was careful not to become dehydrated and drank extra water if I knew why tea wasn't decaf. I also started drinking dt soda at 3 months. I drink both decaf and regular diet, whichever is available. Let's face it restaurant's don't have decaf ICE tea or decaf soda.
I'm a StV's patient and I can tell you they mentioned Click in my day class with the dietician. We were cautioned about caffeine dehydrating us and they also said EACH PERSON IS DIFFERENT.
Also, StV's update their "yellow pages" for reference quite often one of my friends had surgery 8 months before I did and is allowed to eat mashed potatoes...not on my approved list to eat...but I'm a rebel too and eat them! My point that is taking me too long to make Jenny is don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't do with your OWN body
You know your body better than anyone!

highest wgt/ day of surgery/ current wgt / goal wgt
52 lbs lost before surgery!!

It's too bad that apparently many have been horrified about what I eat. Who knew that a slice of pizza could cause such an uproar? It certainly explains the lack of participation in the accountability threads I tried to get going, I guess they thought my choices were contagious.

Sorry to be glib, but the more I think about it the sillier it gets. Sure sometimes I eat something I shouldn't...isn't that what an "accountability" thread is for?
Anyway, enough of that. I have to get busy. If you're going to the bowling thing, have a great time! And thanks for your support.

I did not follow line by line what the yellow sheet said... I did not follow word for word what my dietiton said. I could not drink those nasty protien drinks so I drank 2%milk and ate cheese sticks..I take vitamin pills... but I proved to my Dr that they disolved within 5 minutes of being put into one ounce of water. I do know that caffene causes hunger. I know not sipping enough will cause you to dehydrate and being thirsty will make you feel hungry, But I also know even though I have not gained all my weight back (thank God) I am not as thin as I would like to be and I struggle daily with not adapting all the proven diet rules.. I am sure had I followed everything 100% like some have I would have lost better before I got 4 yrs out and my pouch grew to 8 ounces..
I never want to be a size 32 again so I go back to basics alot..there are good things to be said for basics...
As long as you are happy, your Dr is happy with you and as long as people remember on here that these are OUR opinions, the way WE did it.. Even newbies arent stupid they can tell what is so against what their Dr told them.. what has worked for others is what this support group is for.
I can eat 2 cookies but get sick on three.. I can eat a tablespoon of Hagen Daz but puke AND dump on regular icecream..But keep the regular icecream around the house for hubby cuz I know I wont be tempted...
I love everyone and have every admiration for Sherri... she is so far out she doesnt need a support group for her everyday struggles but she has made wonderful friends here given GREAt ADVICE TO OTHERS AND has been a big help to newbies and oldies in all kinds of struggles. If we were to loose Sherri... we would loose an icon, someone who gives a damn.. and we dont have to pay her and we know she doesnt lie to us or pull any punches. We get her whole opinion.. not some half baked opinion with no factual basis. everything she says has been tried and proven... But.. also.. if ithe newbies didnt feel they could share whatever they were thinking or doing.. then the differences of opinions would not be around to try or not to try...
