Top Foods that you struggled w/ giving up or were surprised you had to give up???
And he said that you were lying by saying that *I* was lying about the DS diet.
You might want to take your own advice. You were the one coming out swinging first, stating that DSers spread misinformation, etc.
Not that I am trying to outweigh one thing over another. (pardon the pun) I just wanted to be prepared and not so surprised when I am educated @ what I will be leaving behind for my new life.
I am a HUGE diet soda ADDICT!!! To be honest, that's ALL I EVER drink. I know how bad it is for you, but I just can't seem to stop. I have absolutely NO problem drinking my water. I know some people say it seems so difficult to drink water or they may have to flavor it or use different products to make their water taste better. I have NO excuse...drinking water doesn't bother me @ all, I just prefer to drink diet sodas... That's the one thing I wonder if I will be able to live without.
I have already quit smoking and am doing VERY well, I am just a little frightened by so many drastic changes all at once.
Sorry, didn't mean to babble. Thanks for all of your postings! I really DO appreciate it!

I am 4 years out and only eat bead or buns once in a great while... why waste the room? I take the top bun off a fish sandwich and eat the fish off the bottom bun.. then throw it away.
What makes me dump or puke... I dont miss... like excessive sweets because once you actually dump you really do loose the appitite for what caused it cuz you dont want to repeat it...
After 4 years out I am drinking pepsi but it takes a full 8 our shift to get most of it down and it usually gets flat sitting around waiting for me to take a sip...
Have fun, Go into this full steam remembering everything you give up is probably a pound you loose and dont want back anyway...

I also occasionally have the diet soft drink but I don't crave it as much and slowly sip it when it's "gassy" or wait for it to go flat. And only started this about 1 year post-op.
But I always make sure to drink a lot of water as caffeine dehydrates.
Good luck!!!!

I think the link for the coffee/hydration subject might be wrong, but just go to webmd.com and type in coffee and hydration and you should get to it.

What I really love is a good strong espresso, cappuccino or latte made by an italian coffe shop, where they grind the beans right in front of you for each cup made fresh.... yummmo!
But to answer your question, I'm not sure why but i've noticed a lot of posts on this subject and I think we just transfer an addiction to coffee.
Take care
