I took comfy socks and underwear, my laptop, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, headband. I didn't take any of my own shower stuff, they wouldn't let me shower anyway. I wore sweatpants and a tshirt to the hospital and wore the same clothes home. I think I also took a pair of slippers, but don't recall wearing them.

Two words:

Chap Stick!!

your lips will be very, very dry afterward.  That was the one thing I could not do without.

Melissa's right - take very loose clothing.  You will be pumped full of fluids, so it is common to gain several pounds in water weight while in the hospital.  Sweats and a T shirt would be perfect.

I took a robe ( so my bootie would not be hanging out), slip on shoes to walk in, my cell phone and charger, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb.  Whatever you think that you will need.  I got to take two showers while I was there, so......  be your own judge.
Good luck to you.

The beauty of a woman is not seen through what she wears. It is seen through how she carries herself and the way she doesn’t allow herself to settle. Don’t ever let anyone take for granted the beauty that is within you. Stand firm and know that you’re a wonderful person. Always remember your value and respect yourself. I’m so blessed to have you in my life.  Sometimes we all need to be reminded how special we really are!

where did you have your surgery?  I thought cell phones were not allowed at St. Vincent's...is that true.

Trust me Stacy, you really won't care.  LOL

I didn't get to shower as I had IV's clear up to the moment I was told I could go home.  They took them out so I could get dressed.  I figured at that point, I'd just shower at home in my own surroundings.

Lisa, I took my cell phone and my daughter stayed with me the whole time, she had hers too.  I never was told we couldnt have them or use them.

Another thing you might consider taking.... I took a couple tank tops to put on under my gown so my binder wouldnt' itch me so much and make me sweat so bad.  I was told it can really make you sore if you have it up against your skin for long periods of time.  You will want to wear it for a while so you might consider the tank tops too.

I wore my binder for the first two weeks.  I had to take my lovely drain tube home with me for a week so the binder was my buddy at keeping it all in place.

Huge hugs and good luck!
