I am on the liver reduction diet as ordered by Dr Mattar.  I want to stick to it, and follow the plan but I am wondering how I should handle hypoglycemia.  My sugar is dipping low and so far it hasn't gotten dangerous, but I don't know what I should do if it does.  Ideas??

I am trying to eat every few hours to leep things level, I am just worried because I have experienced hypoglycemia in the past and always keep fruit juice around.  I am just not allowed to have that on the liver reduction diet, but I figured it was okay in an emergency...

I will get some gluco tabs as well.

Stacy,

I became hypoglycemic when I was about 6 months post-op. Avoiding high carbs/starches seems to help the most. White potatoes, corn, pasta, white rice were all culprits. Keeping your protein level up helps. I was told to reach for something with protein rather than sugar or carbs when I felt it getting low. I also keep glucose tablets with me at all times..just in case. My sugar had gotten into the low 40's before I started figureing out how best to handle it. I can see where fruit probably would not be the best thing to do. It has natural sugars..and while they are natural, it is still sugars and could probably cause your sugars to continue on their roller coaster ride.
