I am so stoked!  I had my appointment with Dr Mattar today.  I am starting my liver reduction diet and have my psych eval on April 8th.  Because I have Medicare I don't have to wait for apreapproval.  Once I have lost my 27 pounds (or am at least well on my way) I will get my date.

I can't believe it is finally going to happen!!

Yeah! That's so exciting. Best of luck with the liver reduction diet. You'll be having your surgery before you know it!

Hey there!  Im with Dr. Mattar too!  Having surgery April 16th.  The liver reduction diet (which you start the first day of your consultation and continue until 2 days before surgery), consists of lean meats, lean dairy, veggies and sugar free jello, popsicles and water mix ins.  No fruit/fruits juice, carbs, processed foods, etc.  Very hard to get used to, but you do drop weight fast.  I lost my 25 pounds in the first month I was on it, but am very strict and didn't cheat on it.  Ive lost another 5 since then.  I lost alot of my weight in my upper body so I believe my liver has shrunk, lol.

sabrena, I am so happy to hear that you lost your weight quickly.  I am hopeful that mine falls of quick.  I know for the past that high protein does take the weight off really fast for me, and it is good for my diabetes!  I have my 2nd NUT appointment and psych exam on the 8th of April, and would love to have a good hunk of this weight off by then!
