Wahhhhh!!!!

I am sitting here waiting on a tow truck.

I have a brand spanking new 2008 Dodge Nitro R/T.  It is loaded with all the bells and whistles.  We bought it in November.

The day after we bought it, we couldn't get any acceleration - the transmission wouldn't shift gears, and was in "limp" mode.  We had to take it to the dealership.  We could not cancel our contract - Indiana does not give you a grace period to get out of a auto contract.  They reset the main computer module and replaced the transmission module chip, and all was well.

Tonight I'm leaving work, and getting on 465 at W. 38th St.  Friday night.  Rush hour.  People in a freakin' hurry.  No power.  Car won't shift gears.  I'm on the freakin' ramp!!  Limped home with it.  Car now won't go over 20 mph.  This is ridiculous.  Chrysler roadside assistance is on their way to pick up this POS to haul it to the dealership for repairs.  Under Indiana's lemon law, the dealership gets 4 times to make it right.  Ok - this is number 2.

Thank God that it didn't go out when I was on my way home from Kokomo yesterday!

Now I remember why I always avoided Chrysler products...

Bummer Chris...I'm sorry about your Dodge....I've been a Dodge fan for years and drive a Dodge truck today...BUT, I know about the Chrysler product reputation....and I thought it generally followed the lines of Chrysler and Plymouth vehicles....
.....Just keep raising a stinktill they get the message and fix it right.  (that isn't a recall problem is it?)

Hi Michelle!!

Nope - not a recall - at least not yet!

I absolutely adore that car - amazing retro styling, and sharp looking.  But the freaking transmission has some major issues!!

I hate car problems... but I deal with them often since both my vehicles have over 100,000 miles on them... and the van has over 200,000 miles.  My truck broke in August and still isnt fixed since i lost my job.   So I understand your frustration.  I had to have it towed from Anderson all the way here and it cost me over 200 bucks.  Made me wanna cry!

I hope you get it fixed and it is all better soon.

Huge hugs,
Tracy

Automobiles are a necessary evil.

We have a 2007 Dodge Caliber and have had really good luck with it so far...I hope that continues! What I REALLY want is a Cadillac Escalade...yeah, like that's gonna happen with two kids in college...

Anyway, good luck! I know how frustrating car problems are.

My ex was a mechanic so I never minded car problems much when I was with him because he could fix about anything. Trouble was, he'd never hold on to a job & wasn't a lisenced mechanic so no pay from this wealth of knowledge either.

Bill does not work on cars at all....so..all out of pocket...my pocket! I still don't want my ex back though!

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango that I bought in 2003. For the first three summers that I had it, I had to have the air conditioning worked on every dang year! Between that and other things that went out on it (electric locks..one is going out AGAIN...hood latch, electric seat, brakes, shocks, etc, etc), I was spending a minimum of $2,000 on it every year! Last year, I splurged and bought it a set of tires. Another big ouch!

Bill swears by Dodge..but it's Chrysler doing the repairs since that's where I bought it. So...love the SUV..not so crazy over the repair service.  I know I need to think about getting a new vehicle sometime in the future but I think I'm going to go with a Kia...something cheaper to begin with! I spent $22,000 on my SUV...used with 32,000 miles on it. I could had gotten a brand new Kia for that I think.

Ah..I ramble...Sorry. Good luck with your Dodge. Oh..I had a transmission go out one time on 3rd street in Terre Haute...during rush hour. The dang car would only go in reverse! Not a possibility on 3rd! I definately can empathize with you. Oh..also had a brand new Ford catch on fire at a gas station! Ford wouldn't back it up and I had only had that car for 3 months! I have not been a Ford fan every since!

Actrually Indiana does have a Lemon Law, if they told you otherwise they are wrong and you really have a case now.
