What do I do now??

Okay so surgery is on Tuesday.  I have had this lingering cold for about a week and a half but Wed and Thurs I felt a lot better so I thought it had worked it course.  Well I was wrong.  I woke up this morning and I can feel it back in my chest when I cough and my head.  It is not as bad but it is still there.  I am getting scared.  Do I call my family doctor and see if he can do anything? Will this delay surgery?  Please help as I am starting to freak out.

Call your PCP.    But until then - ZICAM.

Thanks Annette!  I have called my PCP and they are calling me in a prescription for a zpak (sp?).  Hopefully this will help!

Will pray that the Zpack works fast, if it is viral and the zpack doesn't work, you may have to postpone your surgery. That would totally stink, but would be better than having a breathing tube put down your throat and makng you sicker. Let me know how you are feeling. I'd probably do the Zpack and the Zicam, just to cover all bases.

Those darn colds! Most of them are viruses, not much can be done except lots of fluids and rest. To be on the safe side you should call your Dr. and ask what he/she thinks. Be sure to mention the surgery date. Your lungs are inportant part of the anastesia and should be nice and healthy. You could also call your surgon to be on the safe side. Good luck to you. There is a really bad upper respiratory thing going around right now, I am just getting over it.  I ended up with Bronchitis.  The Z Pak worked for me.

I have heard others on here swear by Zicam.  I havent had to try it yet but I think I would do both like Melissa said.  Hopefully it will kick it in the butt!!

I have my fingers crossed! I just did the Zicam.  And I am picking up the Z Pak in a little while.

And then the Surgeons office just called and moved my surgery up to 8:00 am from 2:00 pm so this has been a crazy day so far to say the least!
