Visited SusanBRB1 Yesterday
I stopped in to see Susan yesterday. Susan had Open RNY yesterday at 8:00 a.m. I stopped in after my PreOp class around 5:00 p.m. Susan made it through surgery fine but could not wake up from the anesthesia.
Her sister was there and said she always has this reaction to anesthesia. She was given meds that help reverse the effects of anesthesia but they did not work. They were taking blood to check her blood gases when I left.
I asked her sister to call me before she left the hospital for an update but she did not return my cal ( she had been up since 5 a.m). I will check on her today and let everyone know.
I was a little worried that she had not gotten up to walk since they emphasized the importance of walking. Susan also has other health issues inwhich she was worried about -having the surgery.
Please keep her in your prayers today.
Thanks,
Lisa

Thanks for keeping us updated on her. Don't worry about her not walking right away. I had a few minor complications after surgery and they didn't let me wal****il the 4th day after surgery. Even then I couldn't really walk much (just from the family room to the bathroom for the most part) for the next 3 weeks because of blood pressure issues. But once I got everything under control, it didn't hold me back.
