Lyn update
Lyn's feeding tube that was in his nose accidently got pulled out yesterday. The Dr said today he has ordered a consult for a GI Dr to put in a more permanent tube thru his abdomen to put his feedings into. It was so good to see that tube out of his nose. The tube for the ventilator is in his throat so from the neck up it looked like Lyn once the feeding tube came out.
Poor guy--I just feel so bad for him. He chews a lot. This is probably just a reflex. I started noticing today that as he was chewing he was making terrible grimancing faces and it was obvious he was in pain. As I suctioned his mouth, I noticed he had some blood on it. Upon closer exam, which is a little difficult cause he will bite down on anything put it in mouth, I saw I cut on his tongue, a smaller cut and the 3rd place was a large piece of his tongue about the size of a M & M just hanging where he had bit it and didn't know. So---now he has a big bite stick protruding from his mouth with a strap to keep it in place. He hates it and gags on it and it just breaks my heart to see this.
His temp was normal today so hopefully the antibiotics will tackle the infection. They did take him off the vent for a trial and he was able to stay off for 10 minutes before having to go back on. They probably won't try it again for awhile.
They did get him up in the chair again today and plan to everyday which I am glad for. He is starting to get some skin breakdown from lying in bed all the time. The nurses are great but they may get tired of me as I had to remind them today he had not been turned for 4 hours and I thought it was time.
We are all continuing our prayers for healing and also our praises for bringing him this far. I want him to remember that he had so many people visiting and sending cards and messages but I hope that he will not remember the pain.
It was good to go home overnight but I didn't get much rest, I think about an hour. It was just very weird. Even Scotty the lab was very confused about where Lyn was. He sniffed all around trying to figure it out.
Thanks for your continued prayers Terry

Terri you are right about the turning to prevent the skin break down. Most policies are they are to turn a patient every 2 hrs. So u might talk to the administration there to make sure the staff are aware they need to be doing this. You have to speak of for him!!!
Im keeing u both in my prayers.
