Well, the stricture was just fine, hadn't closed up at all. They didn't mess with it at all. They did discover 2 small ulcers while they were in there. This bummed me out a bit. They were not there 5 weeks ago when I had my other surgery. Anyone know what causes this? I'm sure the doc told me but I don't remember. He did double my protonix to twice a day and gave a big dose of protonix IV before I left. All in all though, everything went well.

I have been told that ulcers are caused by a bacteria.  The name of it is H. Pylori.  This was the case when my DH had been diagnosed with 6 of them in September.  It might give something to check into.  My sister had them shortly after her RNY also.

Good luck and take care of yourself!

Huge hugs,

So glad the visit went well with the exception of the ulcer.  Take care of yourself!

Hi Hon,
I hope by now you are feeling better. Do take your meds. for the ulcers. I don't know why some of us get them( they found mine at 5 mo.) but we do. Just rest, take your meds. and watch spicy or acidy foods. They triggered mine, so I really avoid them as much as I can. No more oj for me, but I'd rather do that than have the ulcer pain! I will keep you in my prayers girlfriend.

Melissa,

I had 2 early out. One was right after I drank 1/2 c of coffee with caffiene. The 2nd was after I used Ketchup for the first time post-op. Your pouch is very sensitive so you have to watch what you put in it. Even if the sheets say you 'can' have it, it doesn't mean your body can handle it. When I had the Ketchup, it was after the time period of when it was allowed per the St. V's WLS 'Bible'...the yellow sheets...but my pouch wasn't ready for it. It took about 3 more months before I was willing to try it again.

So..stay away from caffiene, spicey foods, and citrics. Slowly add them back to your diet  as your plan allows... If you are through St. V's..that is usually 3-6 months for the spicey & citrics. Never for the caffiene. Caffiene is on the list to avoid for life since it has more damaging effects than just ulcers (it can cause dehydration and it's an appetite stimulant).

Sherri, I have never had caffeine or spicy foods. I have used ketchup sparingly, but I guess I will cut that out for now. I appreciate your thoughts. Funny thing is that I had no idea that I had them. They were surprising to me.
