02/25/2009 consult @ St. Vincent

Good Afternoon All!

I have a consult scheduled 02/25/2009 w/ Dr. Jones @ St. Vincent.  I was wondering if anyone could give me info as to what might happen @ this consult. 
I will be going alone as my hubby can not get out of work and am a little apprehensive and nervous about it.

Any info would be appreicated.

Don't be nervous!  It's a very neat little deal they do.  The doctor will speak and explain things to you about the surgery options.  They will have an insurance person who works filing the paper explain things to you and answer questions.  The Nutritionist will talk to you somewhat about what life is like after surgery from a food standpoint.   And if you decide to go ahead and have a meeting one on one with the doctor they take you to a private room and discuss your medical health and any concerns you have.  It's really very informative and you will learn quite a bit of information.

Don't be nervous.  There will be a lot of other folks there, and you're all addressed together.  The one-on-one comes after everyone has talked to the group. 

If your husband can't go, do you have another friend or relative that can go with you?  Not only as moral support, but to be an extra set of ears?  It's a good idea, simply because you're going to be nervous, and you may not remember as much as you'd like to.  That person can remind you later on of things you may have forgotten.
