how long did it take to hear from her office regarding your labs? will they contact me even if my numbers are all good? will they send me a copy of the results?

It took 2 weeks to hear from them.   I finally called them.  But the funny thing was when I got home from work that day, I had a letter in the mail from Dr. Inman with my results.  I was low in Vit D (the first time) and she had enclosed a poorly copied page of how to get Vit D into my diet!   (I thought that was very tacky---she makes enough money to have them printed up very nice!)   When I called, I asked for a complete copy of what they received as I have been getting that every year just for my own benefit so I can compare apples to apples.   Received it a few days later.

The key with the drs is that you have to be PROACTIVE and CALL THEM!  Their office is extremely busy.  Unless it is a dire emergency on your labs, you won't hear from them very fast is what I was told.

It took me about 2 weeks when I had my labs done for their office to get a response.  And in their defense on that, some of those lab are considered "send out" labs - meaning the regular lab in the hospital sends them to an outside lab to be processed - so for those it usually takes a week or 2 for the lab to even get the results back.  So I think 2 weeks is a pretty good turn around on their part.

They also just send you a general note saying whether things were in the normal ranges or not.  They do not send you a copy of all the results.  As a nurse, I think it is very important that you also keep track of the labs yourself.  I typically have already reviewed all of the labs myself before they even send me anything!  So when you get your labs drawn either ask their office for a copy of them or you can go through the lab that you have them drawn at.  You may need to sign a release of medical information.  And be sure they give you all of the reference ranges so you know what the numbers mean!

I was impatient. I called and asked before they mailed me. When I went in for my checkup visit, I got a print of all the results and took it to my family doc for his records as well.
