B12 Injections
Thanks
I wouldn't increase the frequency of the B12 injections without your doctor's advice/permission.
I only inject it once per month. I'm almost 10 weeks out and doing fine.
I had my surgery 14 months ago. I was tired and sluggish for months. Really. For me, it was from having this major surgery with general anesthesia, not getting enough protein or fluids most days.
BUT after several months and knowing I should be less tired and sluggish, I asked if I could try the shots every 3 weeks. My Dr approved and I have been doing this for several months. I feel that it does make a difference for me. Maybe just "power of suggestion", maybe not, but it does help.
At your stage I think feeling tired and sluggish is normal and I'm not sure that increasing B-12 would make much difference right now. Our bodies just take time to recover and be able to take in all that we need. Give yourself some time to adjust to this new way of life, then if you still want to increase the shots, ask your surgeon first. Be sure you are not doing your own shots, I was told we cannot hit the right area on ourselves. My husband gives me mine.
Good luck and keep us updated on how you're doing,
Bev

Remember - everyone is different.
I take my shots every 3 weeks. I take 1 ml Sub-Q using a B-D 3 ml Sub-Q needle. I was using a 1 ml Sub-Q needle and it filled the syringe up and I couldn't inject it myself because the plunger was so far out my finger couldn't get on the end. LOL. My pharmacist asked where I was injecting myself and I told her my thigh. She told me B12 did not have to be injected into the thigh but could be injected into the belly area around the belly button. I do a half-circle around my belly button. My B12 has come back normal every time and I have been injecting for over 3 years. I let Dr. Inman know this and she said it was okay since my B12 was normal. I have no fat in my thighs and it was horrible!
The pharmacist gave me a lesson on injecting myself also. First wipe down the rubber seal on the B12 bottle with an alcolhol prep. Put the needle into the rubber seal and begin pulling the plunger out. When you get out about 1/2 as much in the syringe as you are going to give yourself, depress the plunger back into the bottle and empty the syringe. Then begin pulling the plunger out again and take out the amount you require. That takes out the air in the syringe. She also told me to store the B12 in the fridge. So I fill the needle and leave it out overnight and give myself the shot the next day so the B12 isn't cold as I find that cold burns!
Do not adjust any medication or vitamin without dr knowing it. It could change a lot of things overall.
I'm sure you are right on target. You have had a major surgery and it will take time for your body to rebound.
Many blessings,
