Newbie Here
I guess I should tell you all a little more about me...LOL.
I am a 32 year old stay at home mom of a 12 year old son. I homeschool him while at the same time attending school myself online. I am in the process of completing my BA in Psychology and then will be working on my Masters in Social Work. I live in Lafayette, and would love to meet more people in my area going through this process.
It would be great to also talk to other people who have had surgery with Dr Mattar. So far, I have been pleased with what I had read.
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and also have the support of others who have "been there, done that".
Stacy
You mention you get Medicare. Are you on disability? I don't mean to be nosy, but I ask because you also talk about being in school. You might be able to get help from Vocational Rehabilitation with school if you have a disability. People receiving SSDI or SSI are presumed to be eligible for services. I am a VR Counselor in the Terre Haute office.
Good luck with your process!
I am Tracy from Marion. I had my surgery at St. Vincent's last May 28th. I am down 112 pounds so far and have 34 to go. It has been the best thing in my life since giving birth to my kids. I have had a great journey so far with only a few speed bumps but no roadblocks! LOL
I would like to suggest you find a support group in your area to attend if you havent already. The doctor's office should be able to tell you where you can find them.
I am so very happy for you!
Best wishes and Huge hugs,
Tracy
Hi Stacy. Nice to meet you. I'm fairly new on this board but everyone is so nice and very helpful and supportive.
I'm Kathy from Kokomo, so we are neighbors. My surgery was at St. V's Sept 2000 and I lost 225#. I am maintaining now with 215# lost. I've also had abdominoplasty, liposuction, brachioplasty, mastopexy, & mammoplasty. This surgery has given me my life back and I give God all the glory. I have been very blessed and I've gotten through all my storms with both feet on the ground feeling stronger and wiser.
Attending support groups and staying connected with your bariatric family will help you tremendously in your journey. Kokomo also has a support group the third Wednesday of every month. Let me know if you would like directions to join us.
Congratulations on your new beginning.
