Would like to know how well satisfied people were with Dr. gupta. I met with her and Dr. Stotes last Friday and haven't heard from anyone since. How long does it take Also I see people talking about pre surgery weight loss. Is everyone required to loss some wt before surgery. When do they tell you this and how much. Is it unusual not to hear anything from St. Vincent group. I fell like I am in the dark. Help!

You probably wont hear from them for a while.  I worked closely with Amy after all my consult and the psych eval.   Did you get all your medical records to them?  It takes about a week for Amy to get it all together and file it with Insurance.  Dont worry, but you need to call if you have any concerns.  They will get back with you.  It takes a day or so.

I adore Dr. Gupta.  She is very nice and very informative.  She listens to me when i ask questions or voice concerns.  She truly is a great doc.

Good luck and huge hugs,
Tracy

I agree with what Tracy said. After I had my surgery though I get a much quicker response if I email Dr. Gupta's nurse instead of calling her. If you have your paperwork all turned in to their office for insurance submission, give them ~a week and then call & ask if it's been submitted yet. Ask if it was mailed or faxed. Mine was mailed but I think many of the offices are faxing now days. When they tell you yes, call your insurance and verify that they have recieved it. Some people have had to have their surgeons office fax it more than once.

Usually, people have an answer from their insurance within 2-4 weeks. After approval, it takes ~2 weeks for Dr. Gupta's office to call you with a sugery date. After that, time flies by pretty quick.

As to Dr. Gupta herself...I have had a multitude of problems and she has always been there for me. My problems are now out of her realm of knowledge...and aparently out of the realm of local GI's from St. V's or IU...so she doesn't mind at all saying 'I don't know' and sending me to someone who hopefully will know. I can't stand a doctor who thinks they are God and only they have the answers to everything. She isn't like that at all.

thank you for such good information. I hope your health problems are resolved soon. Are you glad you had the surgery? I wish I could just loss it on my own, but have tried for years withour much sucess. You know the people who say oh! I just started walking on my lunch break and the weight just fell off! That's not me! lol I walk everyday, stop sweets, stop eating after dinner and still not not much luck. Happy Valentine Day!

Trust me, we all can relate to that comercial that shows what happens whe he drinks water..and what happens when we do! I love that comercial. We have all been where you are right now...frustrated with the whole diet thing. What most skinny people don't realize is that by the time we decide to have weight loss surgery, we have already jumped through the diet world hoops.

No..I do not regret having my weight loss surgery. Never have...never will. I don't regret having my plastic either. I just wish my dang body would cooperate for a change. I can guarantee you that whatever Mayo discovers is causing my intestines to be like they are, the doctors here will be like 'hmmm...imagine that!'. I'm one who gets the rare crap that typically doesn't happen. Ta-da! That's me in a nut shell. How can I regret losing almost 200 lbs though?

I am so glad I had the surgery.  I have never had any regrets.  I have had a fairly smooth journey so far but I can't imagine what life would be like without it.  I feel better and better all the time.  It's the greatest!

Happy Valentine's day to you!

I just had surgery with Dr Gupta 3 week ago.  By day 4, I felt perfect...like I never even had surgery.  My incisions are tiny and healing very well.    Her office was prompt with everything and I was very satisfied with her.
