A day for me to Celebrate...
I just received a phone call from my mother... in tears...She received her letter of approval from Aetna for her RNY! We've worked long and hard for many months to see this day happen, as I wouldn't expect her to live many more years in the shape she's in. She's had 3 knee replacements, is an insulin dependent and has cardiac and breathing issues because of her weight.
She lives in Ohio and will be having surgery at a Center of Excellence. We started this journey at the same time and I knew there was a reason I was approved for my surgery first....So I could have the experience and support to help her through this.
With hands raised in thanks...

Michelle that is such great news!!! I am so happy for your Mom! Let me know when she gets her surgery date! That is awesome. I was on 240 units of insulin a day and my diabetes was still not under control. My blood sugars are now completely normal!! NO insulin or oral meds.
Blessings to you all, Leah

That is GREAT news, Michelle! I'm so happy for your mom. I have a little arthritis in my right knee and before my surgery it really hurt me a lot. I rarely have any trouble at all with it now. Getting the extra weight off will help your mom SO much!

How wonderful Michelle! You will be a great support to her, having gone through it so recently yourself.
I wish my mom could have had the surgery. She wanted to several years ago, but we couldn't find a doctor that would agree to do it since she is over 65, and is non ambulatory due to severe arthritis.

Chris,
Mom will be 70 on March 1st, so it's a miracle they didn't balk because of her age. They supposedly consider it a poor return on their money to approve older people. She's mobile, but barely.

Oh Michelle, how exciting for you and your mom! I'm sure you'll be a huge source of inspiration and encouragement to her! I will keep her in my prayers during her journey.

PS, wore one of your scrub tops today, an XL and it fit. I got tons of complements on wearing a top that wasn't baggy, like I usually do. AND I felt very cute and trendy in it! Thanks again!
