Christie,

It doesn't sound like it was dumping to me. Dumping is characterized by  not .  Dumping can also be signified by your blood sugar bottoming out (which causes shakes, and can lead to fainting spells if not taken care of) and in general, feel like crap.

It really sounds to me like your pouch either just got picky yesterday...which does happen. Or perhaps your stoma (where your pouch connects to your intestines) did. It is nothing unusual for me even with me being over 4 years out to be fine with something one day and the next day not be able to keep it down. But then..the next day or next meal even, have no problems at all. When that happens, it's my pouch being picky. Sometimes, it's because I don't chew up something quite as small as it would like. The cabbage on stuffed cabbages is a real culprit for me with this!!

If it is your stoma, watch it carefully. Try eating soft foods...yeah..backing up a step. Try cottage cheese, sf pudding, creamed soup..that kind of thing. If you still have problems, contact your surgeon's office on Monday. Your stoma can start to close up because of scar tissue. They may need to do an endoscopy to dialate it back open. I would probably avoid scrambled eggs until you know if your pouch is just being picky or if it your stoma. Those little bits of eggs have a way of getting caught around the stoma and can cause you to vomit more. Be cautious if you get to where you can't keep down liquids either,  we can get dehydrated very quickly.

If they do tell you that you need an endoscopy, don't get worried about it. 20% of post-ops have had a scope. The put in an IV, give you some very good drugs, and put a tube down your throat while you are out to check out your pouch & stoma and dialate it back open if it needs it. The whole procedure takes all of 10 minutes once you are out. You will have to bring a driver with you since you are givn the goofy drugs. Most of the time, if you have had an endoscopy, they will schedule you for another one just to be sure you stay opened up. Trust me. No biggie!

I had/have very over-active scar tissue and have had 18 scopes in the past 4 years (15 for the closing up). This is rare to have this many...2-3 is the norm IF you have to have any at all. So..trust me when I say, it is definately no biggie. The IV truly was the worse thing about the whole procedure for me. I'm a hard stick.

Thanks for the info Sherri!  I've heard from others on this issue too - the consensus is that I didn't dump - either picky grouchy pouch, or I ate too fast.

So far today, I feel good, and will be eating my breakfast shortly.  I'll have my usual - 1 oz cottage cheese, and 1 oz water packed fruit.  We'll see how it goes.  Thanks to those that responded to me with advice and suggestions - all are very welcomed!
