A Dr Question
My cousin's daughter has been having a lot of health problem's for years. She is only about 31, but has enough problems for a 70 yr old. She now has a very large hernia in her abdomen. It is so big it is sticking out. It is causing her extreme pain. Her Dr said it needed operated on but he really feels that she must lose weight before they can operate. He thinks she needs to have gastric bypass. He recommended Dr Don Selzer from Indy.
My cousin called me this evening to ask questions. I really wish she would go to one of the docs at St V's but she seems resistant. She is confident that if her Dr recommended Dr Selzer then he has to be great. And he may be, I just havent heard much about him. I did a search on OH and there wasnt a lot of info on him. There was only 8 testimonials. I dont want to push her to go to St V's and then if she has a bad outcome have that on my conscience. She is really in poor health so I am concerned about her no matter what Dr does it.
I kept stressing to her that this is a big decision and that I highly recommend that she go to several seminars/consultation and hear more then 1 Dr speak. I said she needed to really get a good feel for the Dr they choose. Anyway, does anyone have any stories on Dr Selzer?
Oh, btw my cousins daughter is mildly mentally handicapped. So that is why my cousin is the one I am speaking to regarding it all. In case someone is wondering why I dont speak directly to her daughter.
My only concern from your post... is the cousin talking to her daughter alot about this? If the daughter's MiMH, is she really understanding the implications of her choices, and what it means afterwards? I really hope so.
Yes she has sat down with her and had a talk. How much she really understands....I don't know. That is another concern I have. Will she even get through the mental eval with the psychologist? She isnt in just terrible shape mentally, but I am concerned about that part of it. I am not sure she would be a candidate for lap band because there are a lot of rules with it, and it takes a lot of work on the patients part. But I also know that there are rules with all of them
