I just wanted to post and let everyone know that I joined last week while waiting on insurance review.  They told me on Friday that it could be 30 days before I hear anything.

I got my approval today!!!! Insurance company told that my doc's office requested an April surgery date.  I am so excited and overwhelmed!

Congrats & welcome to the board!

Thinking out loud here....
You know...you may have hit on something. I think those who tried to get approved during Q4 of the year, it took alot longer than those who are in Q1 (finacially speaking, there's 4 quarters of the year...one every 3 months. Q1 is January 1-March 31st). In Q1, people haven't paid their deductibles or gotten to their max out of pocket expences yet (usually anyway) so the insurance would have to fork out less of their own $. As it gets later in the year, more & more people have reached those max amounts and the insurance would have to pay more out themselves...so by Q4, it is beneficial to them financially to drag their feet more. Not by a whole lot...but every little bit counts. It would be interesting though to see some data on days it takes to approval versus the Quarter it was applied for.

Again...congrats! Oh..the doctor's office has to put down a surgery date when they send your paperwork in. That doesn't mean that you will have your surgery in April. It is just a date in order to not have any lines incomplete. Your actual surgery date will be based upon the availability of the OR and your surgeon. Depending on who that is, it could take a few weeks to a few months. It tends to take longer to get scheduled the later in the year it is.
