New to Carmel/Clay School district need info on 2 hour delay????

Good Morning Everyone!

I am new to the school district and have a Kindergartner that attends Carmel Elementary. I was notified that there is a 2 hour delay, unfortunately the phone call doesn't ay what that entails nor does the student handbook discuss it. I am assuming that instead of 8:05 my child should be there at 10:05? I am also not sure when they will dismiss (which isn't a biggy because I can find that out when the school opens).

Is anyone familiar with Carmel Elementary's 2 Hour Delay schedule?

Hi Jamille!  I'm so used to seeing you on R&R!  Welcome to the Indiana board.  I'm not familiar with Carmel Elementary, but the schools here in Indianapolis and surrounding townships have 2 hour delays often.  The children start 2 hours later - 10:05, but would be dismissed at their usual time.  The schools just simply make the instruction periods shorter to get it all in.

There may be someone here who can tell you specifically about Carmel schools.

Again, welcome!

Sorry, I can't help. But did you try calling the school. Often there is a secretary or principal there even if there is a delay.

Hi I have no kids and do not live in Carmel area but do know that usually it is a 2 hour delay with alternate kindergarten. It is now 10 a.m. and I hope you called the school because you might be making a dry run. I am not sure what they mean by alternate kindergarten. I think it would be nice to know ahead of time sice they are saying another big snow next week. Ask for a print out of the snow policy to hang on your fridge! Good luck Michelle

Thanks Michelle, I was able to get someone at 9:30 and they say it starts exactly 2 hours after it normally would and ends at the normal time. I'm just really surprised it wasn't covered in the student handbook or that they didn't explain it to me when I enrolled my daughter. Well I'm all the wiser now..lol. Have a great day!
