What OTC stuff can we take for a cold?

I am totally miserable.  I'm running a low grade fever off and on, sneezing, runny nose, scratchy throat, and I have so much sinus drainage I don't even want to eat.  I didn't eat dinner last night and I haven't had breakfast yet today.  I am drinking as much water as I can though.  I just don't feel like eating.

Hubby ordered me to stay home today and rest, but I am miserable.  Any suggestions?

Christie, I'm sorry you aren't feeling well. When I was sick a couple of weeks ago, Dr. Evanson's nurse said we can take anything. Just make sure to break the pills if they are too big. She suggested Tylenol cold or something along those lines. I took Sudafed (cause I had it in the house) and it was fine.

Christie,

Brenda is going thru the same thing right now.  I know she's taking cold tablets, Sugar-Free Dimetapp, and last night she took a half dose of Nyquil.  I've taken a full dose before and it about knocked me out before I even made it to bed.  It sure made me feel better tho.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Syrups seem to work better for me, maybe they absorb better. But ones with alcohol or sugars make me feel worse for having taken them. I have been doing pretty good with Tylenol Cold syrup during this round. Sometimes I have take the special diabetic cold syrups too.
