Update from ICU on Lyn
Hi to all my wonderful friends
Lyn's story
Surgery went very well. Dr huse was very pleased but he said he wanted to put him in ICU as a precaution due to his respiratory history.
He was talking great and even walking in the hall yesterday afternoon then his O2 dropped to 68%. He was confused and then we could not wake him up. His CO2 which is normally about 40 went to 159. They did the emergency airway and put him on the vent. They said today that he quit breathing and turned blue before they got him on the vent.
He was better this am so they took him off the vent and he is breathing just with o2. He has walked in the hall this afternoon. He is running a temp though.
They did a CT scan last night to check for blood clots and it was ok. They are also checking to see if he might have had a heart attack but it is not looking like that. What it looks like is that the narcotics from surgery and post op depressed his respirations so much that he was not able to breathe in the O2 and therefore not able to exhale the CO2 and the CO2 built up enough to shut his respiratory system down and knock him out.
I am so thankful for Dr Huse putting him in ICU as a precaution. He will remain in ICU for at leaswt another night.
I am also so thankful for my OH family here---I was by myself when all this happened yesterday and I almost called Sherri or Gail or someone close but I didn't want them to get out in the snow and risk getting hurt. My brother and SIL and son and DIL finally made it up here last night..
Thanks again for all your prayers. I will keep you updated and continue to pray,
Terry

Thanks so much Connie and Joe,,,I told Joe today that I bet being his surgery angel is harder than you thought!
I was so worried---scared to death. I just kept thinking about how worried he had been.
I think we are on the road to recovery now. I sure hope so.
I started to answer your phone call and the nurse walked in so I shut it off and was going to call you later.
Thanks again Terry and Lyn
Terry!!!
I know you don't know me...yet....but hon, anyone who knows me will tell you: YOU SHOULD HAVE CALLED ME!!! Even if I hadn't gone back out in the snow, I have pretty good listening abilities and I think alot of times, that is what helps people the most. So sweetie, whenever you need a friend to talk to, CALL ME!!
I am so glad that Lyn is doing better. I know that the nurses are wonderful in the ICU at St. Vincent's. Ask them if they remember the lady who was put in a coma because of her intestines 16 months ago that was Dr. Cacucci & Dr. Gupta's patient. They might remember her pretty much blind husband. If so, tell them I said hello and a big thank you for taking care of me and my family so well.
many huggs & prayers!

Terry, I am praying for Lyn and for you! I am hoping that God is surrounding you with his angels and delivering a speedy recovery for both of you. Make sure that you don't forget to take care of yourself too! This early out stress can get you down really quick. Lyn needs you healthy!
I am sending out a huge hug for you and a gentle hug for Lyn too.

Terry I am glad that Lyn is doing better! You are correct about the nurses there. They are terrific! I am also glad that your family made it there to be with you. I know that people have the possibility of having problems and even dying but everyone thinks that won't happen to me and the family doesn't always think things will happen so they just wait on the call that their loved ones are ok. It is something that families need to know and act on the information. Someone needs to be there with the spouses or main person. I hope that you are doing okay and if you need anything let me know because some nice man with a big tractor has dug me out. I have a 4 wheel drive so let me know if you need anything. I am only about 30 minutes from St. V's Carmel. If I knew you were needing something I could pick it up and bring it to you. Just let me know! I mean that too! My phone number is 317-501-8442 use it if you need it! Michelle
Oh Terry, I'm sorry you have both gone through all this, but so happy to hear he is off the vent and doing well. He must be quite the fighter!! I'm also sorry you were there alone, but glad to hear you had family that made it up. Will keep you both in my prayers!!
