3 questions for fun... Wednesday!

1.  How many pets do you currently own and what are they?

We have one dog, a female mini dachshund.

2.  What are your pet's names and is there a specific reason for it?

Our dachshund is named Sammy. She got her name from the woman we got her from. The lady had bred her family pet because she wanted one of the pups. The pups were raised in the house and really cared for. She named them all when they were born because she couldn't stand to not call them by a name. We liked it, so we kept it. It March of last year we lost Sammy's bio. sister after battling with liver failure. Both dogs have stomach/intestine problems and Sammy takes 4 meds a day. But she's happy and that's all that matters. After Sammy's sister (Rosie) died, she was so depressed she hurt herself in her cage and ended up having a herniated neck disk and had to have surgery at Purdue. Needless to say, she's on Prozac now! Wal-Mart pharmacy laughs when I come to pick up her prescriptions!

3.  Do you remember your first pet and what was it?

I think we had bunnies before any cats/dogs. But the first dog I can remember was Heidi. She was a light gray dog and my favorite memory is her giving birth to puppies under our couch. My dad was furious!

1. I love talking about my animals which are my kids.  We have 3 cats and 1 puppy.  The cats we adopted from a local vets office almost 5 years ago.  My husband Steven went to pick 2 out for us and came back home and was talking about this solid black kitten, he said she was adorable but she hissed at him, he would not stop talking about her, I told him he would not be happy until he went back and got her, so that is how we got 3 of them.

2.Harley is the black cat that hissed at Steven and she came by her name because Steven said to bad she is not a boy or I would name him Harley, I told him why not name her Harley, that the character in Pure Country with George Strait the female was named Harley.

Echo came by her name because that was the name I had picked out for my daughter when I was pregnant and my family talked me out of it.  This is the closest thing to a daughter named Echo I will ever come through.

Angel Ann came to us this Christmas, she is a full blood yorkie that now weighs 3lbs.  Ashley our 14 year old name her that for my mother (Mom loved angels and now she is my guardian angel, Ann was my mothers middle name). 

3. My first pet was a full blood German Shepherd named Tippy. 

This was fun and it brought a smile to my face, and I really need that this morning. 

1.  How many pets do you currently own and what are they?

I have two cats.

2.  What are your pet's names and is there a specific reason for it?

Our female cat is a two-toned gray tiger cat.  Her name is Chicklet.  The kids got them as kittens for Christmas about 5 years ago and picked out their names. She is named after the Chicklets gum.  She is small, constantly wants attention and bounces off the walls.

Our male cat is a dark gray cat with the softest fur you've ever felt.  The tips of his fur all have a tiny bit of light gray on them making him look silver at certain angles.  His name is Cosmo.  The kids named him too.  His name came the character in Seinfeld.  He is huge and lazy and prefers me over the kids.

3.  Do you remember your first pet and what was it?

My first pet was a seal point Himalayan Siamese cat named Dusty.  I got her when I was 3.  She was my best friend and the only one I would talk to during my parents ugly divorce when I was almost 6. 

1.  How many pets do you currently own and what are they?
     WAY TOOOO MANY!!!!!  3 dogs, 2 cats, fish (have a 47 gallon tank) and rat.
    One is a boxer, we rescued her from the pound here in town, a minature   douchhound, an the puppy is boxer to but not sure if he is mixed or not, he was dumped with his brothers and sisters and mother at somebodies house. The mother is full boxer but the father was not with them but we love his hyper butt n e ways. The cats are just cats lol they were my kids first pet after living in apartments that didnt allow pets.


2.  What are your pet's names and is there a specific reason for it?

    Dogs -  Bailey, Jake, and Harley.  No reason for any of those
    Cats - Maggie and Squirt   Well no real reason for maggie but squirt when we got
    him had a bowel issue, so I'm sure you can guess why we called him squirt Ha Ha
    fish have no names, The rats name is hershell. 

3.  Do you remember your first pet and what was it?

     The first pet i ever rememeber having was a cat named the cat and an out side dog named panama and a fox that we raised cuz the mother wa**** by a car, named Fred.



    

Today's Topic:  Pets


1.  How many pets do you currently own and what are they?

We don't have any pets...unless you count the girls' fish as pets.

2.  What are your pet's names and is there a specific reason for it?

The fish don't have names.

3.  Do you remember your first pet and what was it?

I never had pets growing up.  After I got married, DH and I had a dog for a short time.  She was a german shepherd mix that we named Daisy.

Oh Boy...if there is a prize for this question I am defiantly in the running for top place! lol We have a little house and we have 9 cats and 1 dog! All basically refugees we have taken in and given a good home and lots of love to! funny unless we are eating...you never see them and people don't realize we have so many. Lots of little furry animals and lots of love to go around. They really complete our home!

Well this could take some time! lol

CATs:
Cute ~ Because she is! age 14, A petite grey little girl. My first and only pet when I met Jon. She has been with me thru everything and still looks like a kitten!

Boo ~ Because he looks like he has a mask on. Age 8 He walked into Jon's house one day after we met and he has never left! Huge 20+ pounds black and white who we suspect is gay but we love him just the way he is!

Star ~ Because he has a perfect white star in his fur on his back. age 7~8 He was homeless and almost deaf when he came to my home up north before we were married. WE took him in and he is now healthy and defiantly Jon's boy!

Sadie ~ Because she just looks like a Sadie....Siamese, crossed blue eyes, crooked tail and very thin and fragile looking. Friends found her hanging by her neck in a horse barn at 4 weeks old and we took her in and bottle fed her. Now almost 6 years old. Mother of Tris and Friday and Widow of the Late husband Ditty.

Rocky ~ Named for Rocky the boxer! He always put his paws up as if to box so it became his name. Another Siamese found in the horse barn 8 months after Sadie. he is almost 5 years old now.

The late Ditty ~ Because he was so little and so sweet in nature...just a little Ditty. I called him Papa Ditty after he fathered kittens with Sadie. He was such a wonderful husband and father . Always loved to see sparkles and took care of his family. He had what we think was a stroke and died this past Mothers day on the way to the vet. We miss him dearly. He is buried in the back yard next to the mini barn with a sparkly geo stone on top of his grave. he lies next to Angel ~ one the the 3 kittens born to Sadie that was stillborn. We named it Angel as it was already in heaven.

Triskaidekaphobia ~ Tris for short. His name means Fear of the number 13. Obviously...he was born on Friday the 13th of May!  Son of Sadie and Ditty, twin of Friday He is defiantly my cat and if we could clone him we would be millionaires! He is a snuggle bunny and all the animals love him. age 4 this coming May.

Friday ~ Sister to Tris and daughter of Sadie and Ditty. Blue crossed eyes like her mother, slim and sleek Siamese. defiantly runs to her own beat. Is learning to be more sociable as she get older. Jon named Tris and Friday to memorialize the day they were born Friday the 13th.

Annie ~ Named for little orphan Annie. She was living under our mini barn for weeks before we could talk her into coming to us. She had been severely abused and abandoned. Jaw was broken and vocal destroyed, ribs broken, tail broken in 3 places and only weighed 4 pounds at about 2 years old when we finally held her. The vet said she was in Gods hands and he had done all he could. She is now healthy, happy and plump! Annie makes little noises that sound like peeps so we Allso call her Miss Peeps. Extremely loving and is no trouble at all. Loves to spend her time on the chair cushioned at the dinging room table. About 6 years old now.

Maggie ~ Called Maggie Mae and is totally all black and hisses like a scary cat but is really very loving. We got her on Halloween from our neighbor as she had been his former girlfriends cat and he was going to take her to the pound. Jon had been "romancing" her from our backyard for weeks as she was hungry and he is such a softie for animals. On Halloween she became one of ours and now lives happily with the rest of the brood. She is defiantly my cat and a lap cat to boot. I cannot sit down but what she is on my lap! we figure she is 2~3 years old.

Dog:

Bailey ~ Bailey is technically  our grand puppy (from our daughter Courtney who wasn't home enough to raise her so we took her in 2 1/2 years ago )but she loves Jon as her only Daddy! She is part boxer and part pom. She looks like a small boxer and has the most expressive eyes and face. A real sweetheart! I have never been much of a dog lover but she is such a sweetie you can't help but love her. She watches over the cats and the house when we are at work and does a great job. she will be 3 on Feb 3, which is also my 3 year RNY date. So we have alot in common!




3.  Do you remember your first pet and what was it?

Growing up we always had a dog and a cat as far back as I remember. I don't recall being the favorite of any of our animal as I was always rougher with them and my brother was softer and they liked him better...but then he never tried to dress the cat up in baby clothes and feed it in the high chair! lol

Two Lhasa Apso/terrier mix female dogs who are sisters.
 
2.  What are your pet's names and is there a specific reason for it?

One named Miley (my 10- year-old daughter named her after Miley Cyrus). Her name was Leader when we adopted her from the Humane Society.

The other one is Bailey and that it was her name when we adopted her from the Humane Society.

3.  Do you remember your first pet and what was it?

Female Airedale named Lady pat.  My brother and I got her as a Christmas present on Christmas Eve many many many years ago.

Today's Topic:  Pets


1.  How many pets do you currently own and what are they?
I have my pomeranian. My husband has 2 geriatric poodles. My daughter has a ****er spaniel. I have a ragdoll cat. And we have one beta fish.  So 6 total.

2.  What are your pet's names and is there a specific reason for it?
I love goddess stuff so I name my pets after goddesses, Athena and Talya. Darrell named the boys from the bible, Jacob (Jake) and Jeremyah, not sure why he spelled it that way.  Olivia named her dog Sophie May. She just liked the name.  I don't think we have a name for the fish.

3.Do you remember your first pet and what was it?
My first pet was a dachshund named Reisa. I was 6-7 yrs old and her mama was my aunts dog. I got to see her be born too.  It was the longest wait for me until I could bring her home.  I remember that was horrible waiting.  She was my best friend and I loved her so much.  I can tear up just thinking about her.  She had to be put to sleep after she became paralyzed.  Common thing for dachshunds with their spinal problems. Broke my heart. 

1.  We have Oliver, a Welsh terrier.  He is 18 months old.  Puppy pics on profile.

2.  We thought Oliver sounded Welsh.  His name has now evolved into Oliver "Baby Dog" Button.  However most days it should probably be No No Bad Dog.

3.  My first pet was a white German shepherd.  Growing up on a farm we always had at least one dog and usually lots of barn cats.

Anyone notice how many of us have pets named Harley?  Interesting!
