I'm a newbie

I just found this terrific site.  You guys are going to be my new best friends!  I am just getting started in my jouney for WLS.  I met with my surgeon 2 weeks ago and got started on the liver reduction diet.  I go for my psych on 2/12.  I was wondering if anyone on here had Dr. Samar Mattar.  He seems very good!!  I am not yet allowing myself to get totally excited until I get the final ok from my insurance, Aetna Choice POS.  Dr. Mattar didn't see a problem with it, but I am used to having doors shut when I try to better myself. 

I just wanted to introduce myself to you all.  My name is Michelle and I live on the West side of Indy.  I have a 7 year old daughter and been married for 8 years.  I have 3 part time jobs all that I love.  I enjoy being outside and working in the yard.  I plan to have the Roux en Y in March or April if all goes as planned.

Welcome to the Hoosier Losers Board.  We love to have new friends join us.  This is a terrific group of friends that will support you in every aspect of your life, not just your WLS.  It's good to have you here.  We look forward to getting to know you better.

Hi Michelle and welcome!!  You are so pretty!  This is a great place for information, encouragement and advice. Its like a big family really!
I am Leah and I live in southern Indiana. I am married also (2nd time), 2 kids...19 and 17. I had my lap RNY on October 6th, 2008.  I am very lucky to have not had any complications with my surgery. It is a fabulous journey and look forward to getting to know you better!!

Welcome Michelle. Glad you found the site. They have all been wonderful to me during my journey. I live in Danville on the west side, am almost 6 weeks post op RNY. I have 2 kids, a 9 year old and almost 2 year old sons. Keep us posted on your progress!

Hi Michelle, welcome!

Although Dr. Mattar didn't do my surgery, I transferred my care to him when I moved back to Indy from AZ six months after my WLS.  He has been doing my follow up care for three years now and I love him.  When I had a problem he was very concerned and even called me during the day personally to check on me.  I was really impressed with that!  I just love him and think he is the best.

Sometimes the hoops we have to jump take a while, just hang on for the ride.  I don't think anyone has regretted it.   I know I haven't.

It is a journey in itself to get approval and etc but it is a wonderful journey in the end..........

I am from Aurora been married 17.5 years and have 3 sons 25,16,15.
I do not live in Indy but i have family there and when i come to visit my blood family i love to meet up with my new family (members from this board).

Dr. Mattar is my surgeon....I can't  say enough  awesome stuff about him. He is unbelievable! I have had NO problems, and I am now 2 pounds under my goal at 9 months out! Clarian is Fantastic and the support is outstanding. A bunch of us meet for Support Group meeting every other wednesday. Hope to see you there.

BTW...I am Shanna, married 17 years 2 kids 16 and 4, 1 dog, 1 cat Highest weight 300 pounds, before 6 month sup. diet 284 sugery day 223 currently 136! Woo hoo

Hi there!  Im Sabrena, mom to 4 kiddos on the westside as well and am also under Dr. Mattar's care and am also pre-op.  I meet with the nutritionist for my 2nd weigh in and have my psych consult both this Wednesday and then will hopefully come right back within the next 2 weeks and do my 3rd weigh in.  I am also on the liver reduction diet with a goal to lose 20 pounds which I lost this first month.  I am hoping to have surgery in March. I just had my gallbladder out 2 weeks ago with Dr. Mattar and he was absolutely wonderful and I work in surgery as a scrub tech so trust me, he's wonderful.  Anyway, if you would like to talk somemore it would be nice to have a buddy to follow along with, pm me.  Thanks!  Sabrena
