Holiday World 2009

Get your swimming gear in order because it's time to organize the Hoosier Loser's Day at Holiday World.  We had a good turnout last year but I'd like to make it better this year.  We had our day on Friday last year to lessen the crowd but if we plan it for June we could have it on a Saturday and still not have a whole lot of people.  The parks don't get really busy until July and August.  This is also Abraham Lincoln's bicentennial birth year so there are a lot of Lincoln activities in Spencer County this year.  We have a lovely amphitheatre where a Lincoln play will be performed beginning June 12.  I'll check on tickets for that.  I got to see three vignettes from it at the chamber's annual dinner last week.  It should be really good.  I'm excited about seeing it.  The amphitheatre is located in our Lincoln State Park which also has camping facilities so we could all meet for the weekend and go camping.  Do the play on Friday night, Holiday World/Splashin' Safari on Saturday and rest up on Sunday.

I'll be gone to the Ichthus Music Festival in Wilmore, KY from June 10-13 so we could do Holiday World on June 6, 20 or 27.  For those who need it, I may be able to get decent room rates at the Ferdinand Comfort Inn this time.  It has new owners who also own property in Spencer County.  If not, I should definitely have the $59/night rate at the Comfort Inn in Rockport. 

Let me know your thoughts so I can get us on Holiday World's calendar!

Of course, this all depends on my belly and what is going on at the time....but...I think a 3 day weekend sounds great. If I'm up to driving the RV, we'd probably want to stay at Camp Rudolph. Otherwise, we really liked Santa's lodge last year. Any chance of getting any discount at either of those two places? It doesn't matter the dates for us.We're flexible.

Thanks for leading this activity again! We really enjoyed ouselves last year!

My family may be in this year. We love Holiday World. We'd probably stay at Lake Rudolph,, we love renting the RV's. Please pick a definate date soon so that I can arrange time off work.

The Ferdinand Comfort Inn is nice.  I have stayed there before when we went to Holiday World for a long weekend.  I would be so glad if it is on a Saturday!  I am planning on starting a new job in February if all goes well.  So, I need to work on Friday.  So, I would be ready to go for sure if it is on a Saturday.  I would like to know asap also.  If you pick it, we will come!   LOL

That sounds like fun!! When y'all decide on a date I'll try to get the day off. I've never been to Holiday World, and getting to go there PLUS meet all you wonderful people would be a great two-fer!

Sounds good to me. 

I am interested in going this time too.  I haven't been since I was a little girl and my girls have never been.  Hopefully by then I will be small enough to actually fit on some rides too (and not be mortified to wear a swimsuit in public).

My vote is for June 6th.

June 6th works for us, as well as the 20th. We go to Minn. to see our daughter every last week of the month of June-first week of July, so the 27th is OUT for us. It will be our first time in YEARS, to go back.The 3 day weekend sounds wonderful- count us in! We will probably camp, unless gas is too high.

That sounds fun!!!  My husband and I love water parks!  We have never been there either.  How big is the lake?  We have a pontoon boat and we love to camp.  We could make a good weekend of it.  Maybe a big campfire for everyone on Saturday night???  We really like that sort of thing.
