Submitted to insurance... finally.

I would have thought this would have been done last week but....NOT!  I called my surgeons office yesterday to find out and sure enough they had NOT submitted it yet!  They did however call me back today and it has been submitted.  It can take 15 business days for them to make their decision!  I thought I might have surgery in February, but now I think it is looking like March or even April!  I guess as long as I have it.  Do I need to contact my insurance company now and ensure that they did indeed get my request?  How long to I wait until I start bothering them, if at all?   thanks Dawn

I think it's a good idea to check with your insurance company to see if they've received the paperwork.  If they just recently sent it, the insurance company will probably tell you it's not in their system yet, but it's a good idea to keep checking.  I called my insurance company every other day or so checking on mine.  After checking for a week or two I called my surgeon's office back and told them that insurance still didn't have my paperwork.  They ended up faxing my info to a supervisor and I was approved the next day!!

I figure that the noisy wheel gets oiled first so I made sure I was plenty noisy!!  Good luck, I know the approval process can be frustrating but it will be over before you know it and it's so worth the wait!!
