I just received my order for calcium crystals today.  Thought I would try them,  How much do you take--is it the 2 tsp or 4 tsp.  ALso how do you mix them with fluid or like applesauce, pudding or something?  THanks,  Terry

Terry, I believe I was told 6 scoops a day. You can mix it in drinks or whatever you want.

Terry,

I mix my crystals with my Fuzzy navel Nectar.  Once in the AM and once in the PM.   The crystals have a bit of a tart flavor to me and they seem to work well with the orange juice type flavor of the Nectar.  I thought they were just too noticeable with anything else.

Terry, according to the information given in the binder we got at class, we need 2 scoops at a time, a total of 3 times in the day.  I mix them with my protein bullet, or in a glass of tomato juice.  (I was told at my last appointment that I could have tomato juice - it's acidic, so I have one 5 oz can per day)  It really is good in tomato juice!

In something more watery or thinner, I don't like the taste.

With the crystals, you don't need supplemental Vitamin D, which was another reason why I switched to the crystals.

Chris,

The tomato juice (or V8) sounds like a great idea!

I hope Dr. Cacucci will allow it after my next post op...I can't wait to try that!

Do you guys order that from some where or can it be gotten from a store around here (well not around me cuz there's nothing around me lol) and how much does it run.  I am one of those bad bad bad patient that doesnt tend to get all their vits. in.  The one I have now are to big and get stuck so i break them up in like 3 different pieces.  So I tend to not go through all that and not take them   I'm just not a good pill taker at all.

I am not sure what the calcium crystals are.. are they like the UpCal D?  That is what I take, and they come in individual packages.  I bought them on Amazon and medi-line for around $13.00.  They come in a box of 120.  I take 3 packages a day.  I love that I can  carry them with me, and mix them in with my food or drinks throughout the day.  I had heard that St.V's will start selling them in the shop as  well.

Best Wishes,

Kim

They are the Bariatric Advantage Calcium crystals.  Says you can mix in 4 oz of liquid or food.  It was $50 a jar but they told me that was a 2 month supply.  I called and ordered mine from St V's and they ship free and they also sell them on bariatriceating.com          I thought they were a lot but I guess $25 a month wasn't bad.  I was using the Citracal petites and splitting them so I was taking 14 tabs (1/2 tabs) a day just for calcium,.

I just tried the crystals in 4 oz of a splenda apple juice and it was great--no taste at all.
